Jagganath Rath Yatra at holy city Ujjain

Jagganath Rath Yatra commences on the 2nd day of the bright fortnight in the month of Asadha (June/July).

On the very same day ie on 13th July, ISKCON Ujjain is also celebrating its 4th annual Rathya Yatra festival.


The event has been growing in popularity over the last three years and this year temple plan to hold it on an even larger scale. The event will be inaugurated by a VVIP of the state of Madhya Pradesh and will commence from the central location of Budbaria. The towering and colorful Rath pulled by the enthusiastic devotees performing ecstatic kirtan will pass through the busiest parts of the holy town and traverse a distance of seven kilometers. The devotional procession will include children from various schools, musicians, floats drawn by bullocks, an elephant several horses and prasadam will be distributed all along the route. At several points on the route individuals will offer puja to Their Lordships. Before the ceremony starts at 1 pm and also at the culmination of the yatra everyone will be treated to a sumptuous feast.

Note – Devotees are planning to go for Ujjain Darshan on next day or a day before of Rath Yatra . either on (12-July Monday or 14-July Wednesday)

Ujjain Darshan will include visiting following places -

1) Sandipani Muni Ashram - Here Lord Krishna took education),

2) Narayan Gaon - This is only temple of Krishna and Sudama. Here Lord took rest with Sudama for night when they went to cut the woods for Ashram

3) Ram Ghat - It is on the banks of holy river Kshipra here Lord Ram came for the tarpan. This the main ghat where famous Kumbh Mela takes place after every 12 years ( drop of nectar fell here from the pot carried by Mohini murthi)

4) Narsingh Ghat - Here Lord Narsingh came for washing hands in holy river Kshipra.

5) Mahakaleshwar Temple - It is one of the 12 Jyotirlingam of greatest vaishnav i.e. Lord Shiva.

Buses will be booked as per the response.

Devotees coming from outside can plan accordingly.
