Jack Rabbits And Things by Bhaktimarga Swami

The average Prairie day in the summer is blessed with sun, dry air, if lucky, a little breeze, jack rabbits hopping around, and most probably countless invisible souls hovering about in the big sky. Let’s no forget quiet.

To the residence of the Joshi’s  we go - Vallabha, Mahadeva, Annapurna and I (we four call ourselves  the Four Kumaras) leave for a chant, a meal and a debriefing of the former day’s festivities. The theme floats around the question, "Now did we, the festival team, do for this year’s ninth event ?” And in our deliberation we came with some poignant points regarding the sound system, security, the food, the entertainment and schedule and also time. Were we punctual enough?

Speaking of punctuality, Anandi had arranged a photo shoot from Ali in his downtown condo. A self-taught photography who really seemed to know what he wanted from a monk who walks. He had me sitting, standing, talking to cross-arm business pose and also the lotus.

Ali is good with his camera and bid me farewell when our group destined ourselves for our evening sangha at KingBar’s. I love a Bengali sabji and to appease my palate, an abundance of asparagus. KingBar invited his Bangladeshi friends so there is a guaranteed utsahan (enthusiasm) for chanting and great opportunity for a periodical outburst of ululating from the woman, who do that so well. Hearing that sound always throws my thoughts to Chaitanya’s time and the ecstasies encountered them.
