On the morning of 2 October 2025, when the Jewish community was observing Yom Kippur, there was an attack at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue in Crumpsall, Greater Manchester, UK. Two people have died, and several others remain hospitalized.

Praghosa Dasa, GBC for ISKCON UK, released the following statement in response:

“The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON UK) is deeply shocked and profoundly saddened by the attack that took place earlier today on Yom Kippur at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims, their families, and the entire Jewish community.

We firmly uphold that every individual has the right to worship freely and without fear. To carry out such a senseless act of violence on one of the holiest days of the Jewish calendar is a grievous assault not only on the community but on humanity itself.

Rooted in the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad-gita, the ISKCON tradition teaches us to recognise the divine spiritual essence present in all living beings. Each person has the sacred right to live, serve, and express their devotion to God according to their faith.

The members of ISKCON UK offer their sincere prayers for the Jewish community. We pray for peace for the departed souls, strength and recovery for those injured, and healing for all who have been affected by this tragedy.

May the Lord grant comfort to the victims and their families, and may His blessings guide all who are striving to restore peace, unity, and justice in the wake of this calamity.”
