ISKCON Midrand hosted the second installment of its vegan pop-up market on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at its temple premises on Norfolk Road in Carlswald, Midrand, Johannesburg. Held in collaboration with The Vegan Chef and associated market organizers, the event brought together vegan vendors, prasadam stalls, live music, book distribution, kirtan, and visitors from both the devotee community and wider society.
The market followed a first installment held on April 11, 2026, and has already emerged as a new model for outreach in the greater Gauteng area. Rather than functioning only as a temple fundraiser or a traditional preaching program, the initiative has developed into a public-facing platform where food culture, ethical eating, community gathering, and Krishna- conscious practice meet in a relaxed setting.
For Ujjwala Prema Devi Dasi, Vice Temple President of ISKCON Midrand, the event’s value lies in making the temple accessible to new people while preserving its devotional purpose. “We’re so pleased to be serving everyone here, the congregation and members of society,” she said. “We have Krishna prasadam, and we have kirtan going on out here and Japa steps in the temple room.”
