The sacred village of Aravade once again blossomed with transcendental joy as ISKCON Aravade hosted its grand three-day Janmāṣṭamī festival, drawing over 50,000 devotees from across Maharashtra and beyond. The celebrations, held from August 15th to 17th, were a vibrant offering of love, devotion, and service to Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa and His pure devotee, Śrīla Prabhupāda.
Day 1 & 2: Janmāṣṭamī Mahotsava
The first two days were dedicated to the divine appearance of Lord Kṛṣṇa, celebrated with immense enthusiasm and spiritual fervor. The temple premises were transformed into a divine realm, adorned with intricate floral decorations, thematic rangolis, and dazzling lights that reflected the mood of Vṛndāvana.
Highlights of the Celebration: - Mangal Ārati and Kīrtan Seva:
The day began with soul-stirring Mangal Ārati and continuous kīrtan led by renowned devotees and local kīrtan teams. The atmosphere was surcharged with devotion as devotees danced and sang the holy names.
– Abhishek Ceremony: On Janmāṣṭamī night, the Deities of Śrī Śrī Rādhā-Gopal were bathed in milk, yogurt, honey, ghee, and fruit juices, accompanied by Vedic mantras and melodious bhajans. The abhishek was a visual and spiritual feast, drawing thousands into deep meditation and joy.
– Cultural Programs: Youth and children from the local congregation presented dramas, dances, and skits depicting the pastimes of Lord Kṛṣṇa, including the lifting of Govardhan Hill and the stealing of butter. These performances brought the Lord’s līlās to life and captivated the hearts of all present.
– Midnight Darśana and Maha Ārati: As the clock struck midnight, marking the divine moment of Kṛṣṇa’s birth, the temple erupted in jubilant chanting. A grand Maha Ārati was offered, and devotees received special darśana of the beautifully dressed Deities in their Janmāṣṭamī attire.
