The Actual Universe according to the Fifth Canto of Srimad Bhagavatam
For many years many people have exercised their imperfect senses in finding out the structure of the Universe or the Solar System. So they have proposed a model and others take it blindly without verifying. Anyway, it is beyond our means to actually verify. So here is the real model of the Universe, as heard through knowledge coming down to us from the actual creator of the Universe. The knowledge is acquired by the Disciple from the Authorized Master. This way it is handed down. Yes, the actual creator has a great plan in creating the universe. He has handed down his instructions also, along with knowledge, for everyone to follow. And if we follow, we benefit. And you should find out that plan from the authorized source. Anyway, the model of the universe is typed down here. In this page only those planets which are well known to common people are described. There are many other planets in different planetary systems all over the universe and there is no planet where living things are absent. On some planets there are persons which are higher than Human beings living on Earth. The four basic things of life Sleeping, Mating, Eating and Defending are there on other planets also. In this way there are higher planets and lower planets according to quality of life. However on all planets there is Birth, Death, Old age and disease. Miseries and sufferings are present everywhere. The whole material existence is present in one fourth part of the whole sky just like a cloud covering the sky. The other part is the Spiritual World which is very different from this temporary worlds. There is no suffering there, only eternal bliss. There are planets and cities just like in this world. As a spirit soul we can choose where we want to live and we can go into whichever planet we like by following the instructions of God in the Vedas. There are uncountable universes in the material sky, which is one fourth of all manifestation. Every Universe has its administrators called demigods. They live on the higher planets with better quality of life. They control rains, water, heat, sunlight, etc on all the planets. All of them work under the direction of the Supreme Lord. Each Universe is covered with layers of gross and subtle elements one after another. It is not possible to see other universes when we are inside any universe. Each universe has only one Sun and one Moon. In the Sky we can see the planets Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Mars and also many stars. There is one star that does not change its position in the sky - that is the pole star. The stars and planets that we see are arranged vertically in the space between the pole star and this planetary system. Among all stars and planets that we see in the sky, the pole star is at the greatest height from the Earth. Our planet is a part of the Earth Planetary System. It is present on Southern edge of the Central Island called Jambu dvipa. All the stars and planets circumambulate the pole star. The planets of Earth planetary system, do not circumambulate anything and stay at one place. The Sun along with all the stars and planets complete one round around the polestar in one day and one night. There is some difference in the speeds of the planets and the stars relative to each other. This is why we observe the planets move from one constellation to another because the speed of the constellations is a little different. The planets also have different speed.
