Inner Work by Bhaktimarga Swami

12922432888?profile=RESIZE_400xThere is some renovation going on. Yes, here at 243 Ave. Rd., the temple is making way for a much needed elevator to take care of the elderly and the handicapped. It is going to change the force of our handsome building, perhaps even improve it and add more dignity. The process of it getting there is rather messy but that’s what happens even when assembling a good-looking cake. Things get untidy.

It just appears that there are always renos underway. It is called maintenance and that is Vishnu’s domain.

It also become imperative that we all strive for our own renovation and make a change, an improvement on our own person. We all have adjustments to make in our character. That is what the process of Krishna Consciousness is supposed to do - clean up where you can.

Hearing from god brother Vaisesika whose visiting, is always a giver of fresh air. This morning he spoke about inner development, a kind of internal renovation as seen through the eyes of the great Queen Kunti. With her incredible insight, as delivered from the book Bhagavatam, Canto 1, she expresses the hurdles on the path of progress. In what are considered to be assets in a mundane world - the traits of having good looks, lofty intelligence, incredible wealth and/or a birth in a famous family, are often a liability for spiritual growth. The message was about approaching life honestly or with sincerity. Be honest, modest, and the renovations of human development really start to shape up.
