It is always good news when you hear a new baby is born, especially to able parents. Such is the case in the community. News also gets around that one of our members perished. If we are looking at an elderly person it is less heart-breaking than when we hear of a young person who hasn't had a full chance at life. There is always a big smile on someone's face when he/she announces "I've got my PR, permanent resident status," or when someone tells me, "I just graduated" or "I got hired and the pay is good."

Often enough I hear " I got laid off." "I'm sick and need hospitalization." "I experienced a stroke." "I discovered I've got cancer."

These waves of information are source of joy, trepidation, grievance and all kinds of mixed emotions. But when we insert the Blue Boy in our life it offers hope as we understand better how to cope. Life is tough. There is no big secret here. However, we can make what is a heavy bulk to carry (life) a chance to lighten a burden. The question is how do you catch news?

After receiving an assortment of news which in one way is really "olds," as history repeats itself, I decided at today's end to go light on my mind and take that walk, smell the roses (at this season, it's lilacs) and make a visit to a friend in the Annex. With three companions we ventured to Vallabhari and Khyati's apartment for sandwiches, a treat and a break from cool curry prasadam.
