His Grace Jananivas Prabhu, the pujari of Sri Mayapur | the Spiritual Capital of the World Sri Sri Radha Madhava Temple, shares His intimate relation with the Deities.
His very deep understanding of the Deity worship and his touching devotion is truly inspiring.
The standard of deity worship is devotion. The standard is when people come to see the Deities they faint!
The Deities are the source of life for the devotees. Can you imagine coming to the temple for mangala-arati and there’s no deities?! The deities are a direct source of inspiration.
The Shaligram on alter should be Janardhana or Narayana because the Janardhana is the Lord of the heart. The Lord of the heart is there also. He will reciprocate.
A pujari should dedicate his life to serving the Deity. If he is given that service, of if he chooses to do that service, at that time he should say: alright, I’m prepared for the rest of my life to serve my Lord and I will not make any complaint… It’s my life and I’m dedicating my life to serving. Then tis satisfies the Deity. If He sees that someone’s there that He relates to rather than different pujari coming everyday. He knows that someone’s there who actually he cares for the Deity, and the pujari is not just a position. Otherwise it just becomes a service: if I don’t do this I’ll do that, … . It becomes very much a parential rasa. A mother never says I don’t have time for the child. His only business is playing. If He worries about if I’m getting food, He will be in anxiety. When He is satisfied, anything can be achieved. He will be completely looking after you. A person who has that attitude he knows how to worship the Deity, even though you are not following all the rules and regulations.
