SB 4.7.50

Lord Viṣṇu replied: Brahmā, Lord Śiva and I are the supreme cause of the material manifestation. I am the Supersoul, the self sufficient witness. But impersonally there is no difference between Brahmā, Lord Śiva and Me.

Lord Vishnu is enlightening everyone on the highest philosophy that there is no difference between Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva and Me, which actually includes everything else in existence. Krsna says everything comes from me.  So there is nothing in existence that is not coming from Krsna.

There is nothing but Krsna in existence but actually we have forgotten our existence as Brahman. Krsna is pointing out here that actually everything is Brahman and everything is equal, in that respect of being the Brahman. So unfortunately, this Brahman is covered with another Brahman: There is material Brahman which is also called Brahman because It emanates from the Supreme Brahman and the small jiva, Brahman, is prone to become covered by the material Energy which is also Brahman but acting in a different vibe. Prabhupada says inferior and superior energies, it is the same energy but one time it is acting in a superior position and the other time acting in an inferior position.

We are trying to come to the understanding of the perception of Brahman. That is already existing, why I can’t perceive it? That is all that is existing based on all the statements from Krsna and all the great sages. Nothing is in existence but Brahman but I can’t appreciate it, I can’t experience it, I don’t have any perception of Brahman. Why not? Because of Avidya, ignorance, or Prabhupada describes it as forgetfulness of Krsna. This is actually the first covering of the jiva when it enters into the material world. Krsna covers him with this avidya potency. How do we find this? Because the living entity wants to imitate Krsna, but how can you imitate Krsna if you are conscious of it? If you are conscious of the Supreme Brahman, there’s no escaping because Brahman is everywhere, it is spread everywhere. How can you imitate Krsna if you are always conscious of Krsna, when His presence is always felt? So it’s not possible. So therefore Krsna then covers you. … . The jiva then becomes conscious of his material body, the material elements and what he is dealing with in the material world.

Krsna says in Bhagvadgita: “Some look upon him as amazing, some hear of him as amazing, some speak of him as amazing, but others even after hearing all about him they can’t understand him at all. So we see that all the gyanis and yogis they spend life-times searching simply to understand I’m Brahman. It’s not so easy. They perform severe austerities and penance to understand something  which is completely natural.

The revelation of Brahman comes when Krsna removes the covering. Krsna covered it and Krsna can remove the covering. So it comes by His causeless mercy. So the idea is to attract Krsna’s mercy.
