For over 15 years, Premkishor Das has been a pivotal force in organizing the Festival of India (FOI) and the Festival of Colors in Thunder Bay, Ontario. In addition to his role as a physician and manager of temple services at ISKCON Thunder Bay, Premkishor has made notable strides in creating a centralized platform for Krishna Conscious artists globally.
In a recent interview, Premkishor recounted his journey of establishing an ISKCON artist database, a project born from his deep appreciation for cultural expression and devotion to Lord Krishna. “I saw a need,” he said. “There were many talented artists within our movement, but they weren’t connected. They needed a platform where they could unite, showcase their skills, and contribute more meaningfully to our festivals and outreach programs.”
Premkishor’s initiative began with his experience organizing the FOI and the Festival of Colors, which highlighted the difficulty in locating Krishna Conscious artists—musicians, dancers, painters, and others—who could enrich these events. “Every time we hosted an event, it felt like starting from scratch,” he explained. “We didn’t know where to find the right people.”|
