I met a Catholic priest from St. Louis at the airport while Nityananda, my assistant, was dropping off my two large suitcases full of costumes for the bus tour drama. I asked the priest how I address him and he said, “Father.”
“People call me Swami,” I expressed.
“You are going where?”
“Off to Pittsburg, then West Virginia.”
“On a mission?”
“Yes, I’m joining a team of forty young folks aged 18 to 25, a bus trip throughout the U.S. and Canada, working on a drama and mantra meditation.”
“We are doing the same work.”
“Yes, we deal with the same issues that are taxing us all—materialism and the bad habits that go along with it.”
He agreed, smiled and we parted going about our business. My luggage went enroute, but I did not, missed the flight (circumstances are too boring to explain) so I ended up in the Maple Lounge for a good seven hours. It was time well spent. I made friends and did my homework of writing, calls, and planning.
Finally the new ticket got me on the plane to Pittsburg. Would my costume luggage be held there for me hours after I arrived? Yes, indeed. The two bulky bags were still on the carousel. What a relief.
A couple, Rasacharya and Anasuya, arrived to take me to the country ashram at a late hour. All is well at New Vrindavan, but for the numerous summer bugs. But they are souls and they have some purpose in their flight and their crawls.
