The Story Of Gauri- Douji
Once On Balarama appearance day, Krsna along with the cowherd boys decided to have wrestling match. Lord Balarama is the only one that is stronger then Krsna and the only one that can beat Krsna at wrestling. As Krsna prepared Himself for the fight He began boosting the He is the best fighter.
The first match was with Sridhama. After defeating Sridhama, Subal stepped up to fight with Krsna. After a tough fight, Subal defeated Krsna. Been a sour loser, Krsna wanted a rematch with Krsna. Again Subal beat Krsna. Krsna then wanted a Best of Three Matches and again He fought with Subal. For the third time Subal beat Krsna.
Becoming tired from all the fighting, the cowherd boys decided to take rest underneath a Kadamba tree. Krsna with eye closed and the other half opened scanned the path for Srimati Radharani and the gopis. Seeing then in a distance He jumped up and began His bragging that He had defeated all the cowherd boys in wrestling.
Krsna: O did u see how I defeated all the cowherd boys at wrestling?
Vrnda: You bet all the cowherd boys at wrestling? Haha
All the gopis began laughing.
Lalitha: Did you the beat brother of Sri Radhika, Sridham?
Krsna: Yes I beat him with a blink of an eye.
Campakalata: And did you beat the Subal?
Hesitant Krsna replied. O!!! O!!! Yes I beat him. He is not Subal. He is Abal He has no strength. He is Abal.
Vishaka; And did you beat YOUR elder brother Sri Balaramaji
Krsna : NO Douji is not here today. Today is his appearance day so he did come.
Laughing the gopis headed back to Varshana. There they reported to Srimati Radharani all that the proud Krsna had told;
Gopis: O Radhe That Krsna has such a big false ego.He said that he beat all the cowherd boys at the game of wrestling. We need to teach Him a lesson to curb his false pride.
Radharani: and what you’ll have in mind
Gopis: O Radhika, Krsna’s Balarama is there with the boys today. Krsna had not challenged Him to a fight. Maybe you can dress as Balarama and go fight the rascal Krsna.
Radharani agreed and the gopis dress Her with a blue dhoti and a beautiful turban. Holding a plow in one hand and buffalo horn in the other, Sri Radhe made Her way to the Kadamba Tree where the cowherd boys slept.
Wakening from their rest the cowherd saw Radharani disguised as Balarama approaching them. Jumping with joy they began shouting
Douji has come. Douji has Come.
Krsna got up and greeted His elder brother. The cowherd boys then told how Krsna was boosting that He had beaten them in wrestling. They all wanted Balarama to fight with Krsna. But they also noticed that Balarama was a not so masculine but more feminine.
Meanwhile Krsna started preparing for his fight by slapping his arm. Radharani ( Balarama) also started slapping her hands and began making funny faces at Krsna.
Krsna rushed towards Radharani and with one twisted of her arms she threw Him down on the ground.
All the gopis who were hiding behind the trees began applauding GAURI GARUI GAURI GAURI
And all the boys began applauding DOUJI DOUJI DOUJI DOUJI.
Then Radhrani jumped on Krsna and began wiping Krsna with her soft cadar. Krsna then realized that he has been defeated by Vrndavaesvari.
Krsna then started chanting Gauri-Douji Gauri-Douji
On the Vrndavana Parikram path there is a temple known as Gauri Douji still exists.
