Please accept my humble pranams. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

In computer parlance a program is defined as a set of step by step instructions given to get the desired output. Usually, even though the program is written perfectly, since the computer just does what is being told in the program, it does not have the intelligence to identify if the user is giving a meaningful input or not. Hence the commonly used term GIGO
(Garbage In Garbage Out) came in vogue. It means that that quality of output depends on the quality of input. If we give the right kind of input, then the output will be as expected. But if we give abnormal (Garbage) data as input, then the output will also be Garbage. So it is upto us to ensure that we know what is our goal and then provide the input accordingly.

Lord Krishna has already given a spiritual program to us in the form of Bhagavad Gita with all the instructions of how to lead a life in the material world. Our only aim should be to follow the instructions AS IT IS. The Lord’s program is absolutely perfect. We have to have utmost faith in the Lord’s instructions and abide by it with all sincerity.

Lord Krishna has given a step by step program in Chapter 12 of Bhagavat Gita verses 8-12 providing us with a few options:

mayy eva mana adhatsva / mayi buddhim nivesaya nivasisyasi mayy eva / ata urdhvam na samsayah

“Just fix your mind upon Me, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and engage all your intelligence in Me. Thus you will live in Me always, without a doubt.”

atha cittam samadhatum / na saknosi mayi sthiram abhyasa-yogena tato / mam icchaptum dhananjaya

“My dear Arjuna, O winner of wealth, if you cannot fix your mind upon Me without deviation, then follow the regulated principles of bhakti-yoga. In this way you will develop a desire to attain to Me.”

abhyase ‘py asamartho ‘si / mat-karma-paramo bhava mad-artham api karmani / kurvan siddhim avapsyasi

“If you cannot practice the regulations of bhakti-yoga, then just try to work for Me, because by working for Me you will come to the perfect stage.”

athaitad apy asakto ‘si / kartum mad-yogam asritah sarva-karma-phala-tyagam / tatah kuru yatatmavan

“If, however, you are unable to work in this consciousness, then try to act giving up all results of your work and try to be self-situated.”

sreyo hi jnanam abhyasaj / jnanad dhyanam visisyate dhyanat karma-phala-tyagas / tyagac chantir anantaram

“If you cannot take to this practice, then engage yourself in the cultivation of knowledge. Better than knowledge, however, is meditation, and better than meditation is renunciation of the fruits of action, for by such renunciation one can attain peace of mind.”

The program of Lord Krishna is always perfect. The only way for us is to follow the ALL PERFECT instructions (program) of Lord Krishna. We must be beware of GIGO. By interpreting the Bhagavad Gita as we want it to be, we will lead ourselves to destruction. On the other hand, we have to aim for FIFO (Faith In Faith Out). If we have faith in Guru and Krishna and practise the instructions in our day to day life, then the output will always be increase in that faith and devotion which acts as an impetus to perform more service unto Them.

Thank you very much Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada, Sri Ramchandra Das Abu Dhabi
