In October 2008, under the guidance and blessings of HH Jayapataka Swami was created in Guayaquil, Ecuador the "Food for Life" Foundation which is administered by Guru Mangala, Priya Divya and Gopi Gandharvika, to date the foundation has distributed free dishes to more than 150,000 people.The mission of the foundation is directed to underprivileged children from orphanages and schools, as well as nursing homes, soup kitchens and includes a program of assistance in case of natural disasters.The first distribution was special because the desire of HH Jayapataka Swami was manifested, then were delivered 150 kictri portions at Trinity Island, the most dangerous and destitute area of the city. Food for Life has developed some programs in this sector and thus has emerged an interfaith meeting as several Christian pastors of local churches have been working with the project.In November 2013 the devotees marked a national record, 1200 dishes were distributed over the course of a day!. But the task wasn't easy, because of a government regulation the beneficiary school would not receive ISKCON devotees. Inspired by the desire of his guru the devotees contacted another school, but problems with the water when cooking and transport delayed the program. Unfortunately when the devotees arrived half of the students had gone. With 650 plates for distributing and supported by caring people the team toured the dusty and sunny streets delivering prasadam. "This distribution was longer than ever, it takes almost a whole day, we spend on rental truck as never before had done" says Gopi Gandharvika.Despite this unfavorable situations Food for Life Ecuador is carrying Krishna's mercy to various places.
