Festival of dance-dramas

Culture is a powerful instrument to mould one’s character and it enriches one’s life. ISKCON has been involved in various programmes to preserve and promote the country’s glorious heritage and culture.

Mythological : Shri Krishna ShringarBharatanatyam is one of the most traditional forms of dance. Kalakshetra Foundation has been instrumental in producing many great exponents of Bharatanatyam.

The Foundation has staged many devotional dramas which have won appreciation.
Many budding artistes participate in these dramas along with dancers of great repute.
As a part of various cultural and educational initiatives, ISKCON, in collaboration with Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai will be staging a festival of devotional dance-dramas.
Called Shri Krishna Shringar, the festival will be held from November 26 to 28, 6.30 pm.

As part of the festival, episodes from Ramayana namely Sabari Moksham will be staged on November 26; Choodamani Pradanam on November 27 and Maha Pattabhishkam on November 28. Sabari Moksham, was choreographed in 1965 by Rukmini Devi Arundale.

The music is composed by Mysore Vasudevacharya. Sabari Moksham is the fourth of Rukmini Devi’s six-part Ramayanam series of dance-dramas. Choodamani Pradanam and Maha Pattabhishekam were also choreographed by Rukmini Devi Arundale. The music is composed by S Rajaram.
