About Devamrita Swami
Devamrita Swami is an educator, author, and monk in the Krishna bhakti tradition. For over forty years, he has been traveling the world sharing the teachings and lifestyle of bhakti-yoga.
With a unique ability to analyze modern problems through the wisdom of the Bhagavad-gita and Shrimad-Bhagavatam (essential Vedic texts), he challenges audiences to understand that the quest for genuine personal and social upliftment is rooted in precise and comprehensive knowledge. Often addressing topics on spiritually-based economics, sustainability, and environmentalism, his strategic guidance has proved invaluable to students and professionals seeking to balance their spiritual and professional life. Spiritual life, he often remarks, is a dynamic experiential reality, not a token subscription to a belief-system. Adept at applying this spiritual science, he encourages others to enter the laboratory and perform the Krishna experiment, which enables us to fully realize our nonmaterial identity and ultimate connection. While meeting and relishing the diversity of global humanity, he has also established urban and rural sanctuaries for the spiritually inquisitive, especially in New Zealand, Australia, and the United States.
Upon graduating from Yale University, he began reading and relishing the classic bhakti texts translated by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the Founder-Acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. Impressed by his impeccable erudition and saintliness, Devamrita Swami became his official student and a member of the worldwide bhakti community. In 1982 he officially accepted the renounced order of life as a Krishna monk, dedicating his life to practicing bhakti and sharing it with others all over the world.

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! What do you think about our introduction, isn’t that nice?
Yes, fantastic!
We’re ready for a wonderful discussion, so everybody knows you, it’s kind of a strange thing to try to introduce you, of course, you’re a GBC and a sannyasi and a guru but just as a point of introduction, maybe you could just tell us something about, I don’t think everyone knows, how much you’ve been involved in innovative approaches to spreading Krishna Consciousness. And before we go into the Sri Chaitanya Caritamrita if you could just give us a sentence or two on some of these innovations that you’ve been spearheading as a dedicated book distributor.
