Lord Vamanadev is the fifteen incarnations of the lord, In this form, the Lord figures were that of a dwarf, and His bodily hue was blackish, and He was dressed in yellow garments. Lord Viṣṇu appeared at an auspicious moment on Śravaṇa-dvādaśī when the Abhijit star had arisen. At that time, in all the three worlds (including the higher planetary system, outer space, and this earth), all the demigods, the cows, the brāhmaṇas and even the seasons were happy because of God’s appearance.
From this beautiful incarnation of the Lord, He played a beautiful pastime with Bali Mahara. From this story between Bali Maharaj and Lord Vamanadev, we can learn what it really means to surrender our all and how the lord immediately reciprocates to our surrender by becoming our servant.
Srila Prabhupad: So, Bali Mahārāja dedicated ātma-nivedana, everything = his property, his personal body, everything. So, in exchange, Vāmana, Lord Vāmana became his doorkeeper. So Vāmanadeva said, “My dear Bali Mahārāja, you are so great a devotee. So, in return for your service, I shall remain always your doorkeeper.”
So, by offering everything to Kṛṣṇa, nobody is loser. You must always remem… They are gainer, the best gainer. Because after all, everything belongs to Kṛṣṇa.
