Do I Have to Leave My Family?

Question: Do I Have to Leave My Family?

I would now like to bring your attention to a question which creates confusion in my mind. If a person has some love for Krishna and always remembers Him, while apologizing for every sin and expressing gratitude for all that Krishna has given him, but alongside he is also trying to fulfill his responsibilities towards his parents and spouse--is it really necessary and justified that he leave everything except for Krishna?  After all it was Krishna who arranged and settled everything for him in this world. To abruptly reject the people in this world who love him would leave them in a catastrophic situation.

Answer: Don't Leave Them. Lead Them.

If one is truly apologetic for one's sins, he will naturally desist from any further sin. It is not that one can willingly, knowingly continue sinning and apologizing and expect to be continually forgiven because of such apologies. Apologies for willful sins are not genuine and will not be accepted by the Lord.

We never say that one has to leave one's family members in order to become Krishna conscious. Rather we advise that one should remain with his family members and render them the highest service of bringing them to Krishna consciousness.
