The 5 Inferior Siddhis of Smaranam

1. Tri-kala Jnatvam: Knowing the past, present and future
Veda Vyasa is Trikala Gnani. Veda Vyasa himself acknowledged this in Mahabharata.
Sage Apantaratamas, the Tri-kala Jnani in Swayambhu Manu Manvantra :

Later Brahma, the Creator, uttered the syllable, 'Bho', causing the atmosphere to resound with it. From this syllable of speech (Saraswati) arose a Rishi of the name Saraswat. The son, thus born of the Speech ofNarayana, came to be, also called by the name of Apantaratamas.

Endued with great puissance, Sage Apantaratamas was fully conversant with the PAST, the PRESENT, and the FUTURE (TRI-KALA JNANI). Firm in the observance of vows, he was truthful in speech.

Then Lord Narayana told sage Apantaratamas to arrange the Vedas.

Sage Apantaratamas arranged Vedas accordingly in the Swayambhu Manu period.

Lord Narayana was happy on this task and told the Sage Apantaratamas that the sage would arrange theVedas in all Manvantras.

Lord Vishnu further said that the Sage Apantaratamas would take birth in the lineage of Vashista to Sage Parasara before the Kali Yuga.
Ref. à Mahabharata, Santi Parva, Chapter 159, Verses 37 - 38

Lord Narayana added to Sage Apantaratamas,
“You will be conversant of things past, present, and future. Endued with penances and instructed by me, thou wilt behold the incidents of thousands and thousands of ages long past away. Thou wilt see through thousands and thousands of ages also in the future.”

The Sage Apantaratamas took birth later as Veda Vyasa.

Whenever Veda Vyasa met Yudhistira, Veda Vyasa cautioned Yudhistira generally on forth coming events.
Ref. à Mahabharata,  Santi Parva, Chapter 159, Verses 49 - 50

2. Advandvam: Tolerance of heat, cold and other dualities
We have discussed in our previous post about the previous birth of Draupadi who as a Brahmin girl did great austerity with tolerance of heat and cold.
3. Para citta adi abhijnata: Knowing the minds of others and so on
Ram was not sure how Bharat will react to his back to Ayodhya. He called Hanuman and opened his heart before him. He said, “Hanuman, you are wise and brilliant in reading others mind. My brother Bharat has ruled Ayodhya for all the fourteen years, I was on exile. He has enjoyed boundless power and authority during these days. This is the human nature that one who has tasted power once, does not wish to lose it ever. I am not sure how Bharat will react to my presence in Ayodhya. Before I leave for Ayodhya from here I want to be sure of everything. I request you to go to Ayodhya and read his mind and tell me.
When you meet him, give him full details from the abduction of Sita to killing of Ravan and installation of Vibhishan as the king of Lanka. Also tell him how I killed Vali, elder brother of Sugreeva who denied rights of Sugreeva. Also tell him that I have not come back here only with my wife and Laxman, but I am accompanied with the whole mighty army of Sugreeva, which changed the fate of Lanka.
In case you find Bharat does not want me back to Ayodhya, tell him that I will go back to jungle again without any bad feeling.
While going to Ayodhya, you meet my friend Guh, who lives in Shringverpur, and rules his kingdom. He will be happy to know that I am back and he will guide you to the way to Ayodhya.
I will wait here till I get full information about Bharat and his empire.”
Mighty and wise Hanuman left for Ayodhya without any delay. He met Guh on the way, who welcomed him heartily knowing him so close to Ram. He guided Hanuman to Ayodhya and told him where Bharat lives. Hanuman took his permission and left immediately.
Hanuman reached to Nandi gram, where Bharat lived as a yogi. Nandi gram was two kilometers away from Ayodhya. Hanuman was shocked to see Bharat who looked more like a yogi than a king. He was wearing skin of black dear around his waist; his hairs were matted, he looked weak and thin; he slept on the earth. He worshiped wooden sandal of Ram, placing it on a throne.
After watching him for some time, Hanuman appeared before him and introduced himself as a messenger from Ram and narrated the whole story as he had heard from Ram and was very clear that Bharat was waiting for Ram.

4. Agni arka ambu visa adinam pratistambhah: Checking the influence of fire, sun, water, poison, and so on
According to the acaryas these five perfections are considered to be quite inferior to the others already mentioned, since they involve more or less ordinary physical and mental manipulations. According to Srila Madhvacarya, in the perfection called agny-arkambu-visadinam pratistambhah, or checking the influence of fire, sun, water, poison, and so on, the term "and so on" refers to one's remaining invulnerable to all types of weapons as well as attacks by nails, teeth, beating, curses and other such sources.
Ref. Vedabase à SB.11.15.8-9
Hanuman is never affected by any type of weapons and possesses all siddhis.
Ref. à Valmiki Ramayana
5. Aparajayah: Remaining unconquered by others
Lord Rama’s father is King Dasaratha. King Dasaratha, in his youth, was such an accomplished warrior that Indra would occasionally seek his aid when fighting off demons. Our ruler would then journey to the heavens to do battle with deadly Asuras. Some were so skilled with mantras that they could replicate themselves. They were no match for Dasaratha! He was able to fight ten demons at any given time! It is said that it looked as though ten kings and ten chariots were doing battle. So he was given the name Dasaratha, which literally means ‘ten chariots.’
Ref. à Ramayana
Note:
These above siddhis are given by the Supreme Lord. Lord’s devotees like Hanuman uses this powers wisely to please and satisfy the Supreme Lord by doing loving transcendental service unto the Supreme Lord.
If siddhis are used to further serve the Lord then such souls are called of Deva Guna & If siddhis are used for personal sense gratification then such souls are called Rakshasa Guna
