We need a drummer in our little music band to make it complete. While Mahadeva is on guitar, Annapurna is on harmonium. I play on the kartalas or tambourine; we figured that the person who is left, Gaurav, could try his hand at the djembe we just purchased.
Since we have yet to reach a few more cities and communities on our tour, we thought that we could get the most out of our devotee-power. It is working out perfectly so far with Gaurav as our driver. He has a nice personality that makes our travels pleasant.
In regards to the word 'personality', just after our kirtan held on the grass at Victoria Park, I conducted one of those Gita Chat Zoom classes right there in the park. People on board are mostly from North and South America. One person from Florida, Arjuna, asked an interesting question. "Does maya (illusion) have a personality?"
My comments were: "If we start with gender, then maya, who is enticing by nature, can be any gender that tends to tempt or weaken another. Also, maya is unpredictable, unsteady, cruel, cunning, merciless, naughty and nice, subtle, extreme. Maya just cannot be trusted. It's a parallel to Satan and has frivolity of the mind..."
I'm sure we can go on with the nature of maya. Furthermore, maya is the inferior energy of Krishna and can never overcome its creator.
Our hosts are longtime friends, Jagannatha (90) and Cintamani (86), and their wonderful daughter, Kavita. Their home is in White City near Regina, and it is located right on the Trans-Canada Highway, the country's main drag.
