Caru from Utah, has been helping me a lot. He has been kind to facilitate my Gita zoom classes for this week including today’s which is the South African group. They showed particular interest in his Colour Fest, popular throughout the world and something he initiated back in 1995/96. Moreover, he is a good presenter of the philosophy of Krishna Consciousness and knows how to relate to all ages.
Meanwhile at the temple ashram, residents are little by little, or perhaps a lot putting all the items of the past weekends Chariot Fest back to respective places for a re-set. The re-set refers to “normal” operations, which of course, is service to Krishna and His world.
While the festival to honour our lord Jagannath, was a grand success, there were some stressful moments during the course of all the fun. Pickpockets were running amuck during the parade, on the ferry and festival sites. Complaints came in, mostly from women with open bags on losing cell phones and heirloom jewellery from their necks. Wallets were also missing. In other words there is a racket going on, taking advantage of the many pilgrims during a purificatory event. It appears that some people do not have a strong belief in karma, that reactions will come for wrong-doings. There are people who are very offensive. They cleaned up.
For the next fest vigilance on security will have to be implemented. Justice may prevail and prayers for hearts to change. It’s clean-up time on more levels than one.
