On April 16th, 2025, a historic cultural event took place in the Hall of Honor of the National Congress of Chile — one of the country’s most emblematic venues, where official state ceremonies, presidential addresses, and national commemorations are held.
The event featured a concert by Sri Bhakti Das, who performed Indian classical and devotional music using instruments such as the surbahar, sitar, and esraj, accompanied by Francisco San Miguel on the tabla. The program concluded with the congregational chanting of the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra.
As part of the offering, books by Srila Prabhupada were distributed, along with prasadam cookies, which were prepared and offered to all attendees by Indira Jahnava Devi Dasi with the kind assistance of Marta Llanos, a Congressional official.
The event was presided over by the Honorable Deputy Marta González, President of the Commission for Culture, Arts, and Communications, who received a copy of Bhagavad-gita As It Is by Srila Prabhupada.
Several legislators were in attendance, as well as representatives from the Embassy of India in Chile, including First Secretary Karan Singh Bangari and his wife, Hema Bangari. The President of ISKCON Chile, Jagad Guru Das, was also present at the historic event.
This unprecedented occasion marked a moment of intercultural dialogue and spiritual offering, as it presented the value of Krishna consciousness and the legacy of Srila Prabhupada in one of the most symbolic civic spaces in Chile. Readers can watch a video about the event here.
