Srila Prabhupada explained that the modern Western civilization, which is solely founded on the culture of sense gratification, is no better than the society of cats and dogs. The interest and lifestyle of today's India are going in the same direction. India and its pristine Vedic culture are becoming victims of onslaught by Western materialistic propaganda. Srila Prabhupada wanted to stop that and he considered that as a part of his mission.
"So if you want, Indians, to glorify your country, then present this Vedic culture - heart and soul. Just like I am trying to do it. So how people are accepting it? There is substance... We want to give something to the Western countries. That is our purpose... That is my mission." - Lecture, New York, July 6, 1972.
Glimpses of Traditional Indian Life by His Holiness Bhakti Vikas Swami is an attempt in that direction to make the world aware about the glory of real India, i.e. its Vedic culture.
