It was 6am when I announced to members of the Bhakti Academy that I'm walking. They knew what I was hinting at and that it was an invitation to hit the sidewalk. I had a route in mind. It was a mix of residential park green space, ravine forest and more stately home - a one hour trek and a very new one for them.
Off we went!
Some were used to the Prabhupada speed. Our walkers at the back could easily be labelled as members of the Turtle clan.
The forest section is "better than Vrndavan in India," I shouted out as we graced through the beautiful deciduous trees. "I'm serious!"
Anyways the group liked the space. I don't know if all of them will come again on the trek which to others was very invigorating. It was my pleasure.
Four hours later, up the steps and into the Govinda's Dining, came some kith and kin - three sisters, a brother, his wife and son.
So, all in all, I had Connie, Ann, Pauline then Paul, Jayce and John and me, of course, sitting by siblings and family extensions, enjoying prasadam like anything. Truly they like temple food, and I must admit I turned them on to black salt.
I have blood family and bhakti family in my life. To me it's a blessing indeed. I like them both. I also have atmosphere - the trees, stately homes and parks and forests, all within the precincts of the city.
