Bala Nimai Das has released Inside the Mind, a poetic children’s book drawn from the Fourth Canto of the Srimad Bhagavatam, accompanied by an original short film of the same name. The project distills teachings from one of the Srimad Bhagavatam‘s most detailed philosophical exchanges into accessible verse and imagery for readers of all ages.
A Project Born from Personal Study
The book’s origins lie in the author’s practice of writing poetry to deepen his engagement with the Srimad Bhagavatam. “I like to experiment with language and write poems that reflect on philosophical ideas as a way of understanding them more deeply,” he explained.
While studying the Fourth Canto and noting its themes, he felt the material lent itself naturally to verse. At the same time, he was regularly reading children’s books with his young daughter, and the two influences naturally united. “Although I never consciously set out to write a children’s book, the project gradually took the shape of one,” he said, adding that the ideas are universal and intended for readers of any age.
