August 8, 2026 Update:
Romapada Swami is continuing his recovery outside the hospital after suffering a stroke approximately one week ago, according to a health update released by his care team on August 8.
The update, signed by Prema Tarangini Dasi, Jaisachinandana Das, Nityananda Pran Das, and Nanda Suta Das, reported that Romapada Swami has made encouraging progress over the past week and is gradually regaining strength and energy.
Romapada Swami is able to speak and communicate, although the stroke affected some brain functions involved in processing and organizing information, connecting thoughts and meanings, and formulating responses.
He is currently receiving speech therapy to help rebuild these abilities. The update explained that the therapy is focused not only on speech but also on helping different aspects of communication, comprehension, and cognitive processing work together effectively.
At times, Romapada Swami may require additional time to process what is being communicated, organize his thoughts, or find the words he wishes to express. His care team reported that these abilities are improving but said continued recovery will require time, patience, and ongoing therapy.
“What is most encouraging is the progress Maharaj has made over this past week,” the update stated, while acknowledging that recovery from a stroke is a gradual process.
The update also noted that Romapada Swami remains eager to resume his service but is currently focusing on allowing his body and mind the time needed to recover and regain strength.
His care team expressed appreciation for the prayers and support received from devotees around the world and requested that devotees continue praying for his complete recovery.
“With gratitude in our hearts, we pray that Maharaj will continue to regain his strength and all the abilities affected by the stroke, and that, by Srila Prabhupada’s mercy, he will soon be able to fully immerse himself once again in the service he is so deeply devoted to,” the update concluded.
