Lalita Sakhi is the eldest of Krishna's gopis. She is the leader, controller and the best of the eight most exalted gopi friends of Sri Krishna, famous as Srimati Radharani's constant companion and follower. Lalita is contrary and hot-tempered by nature. Her complexion is golden yellow and her garments are the color of peacock feathers.
Lalita sakhi is expert in arranging the meeting of Radha and Krishna and Their conjugal battles. Lalita's mouth becomes bent with ferocious anger, as she expertly discharges the most witty outrages retorts. In support of Radha's cause, she sometimes offends Sri Madhava. Whenever the gopis argue or quarrel with Krishna, Lalita leads the conflict. Lalita devi holds the extremely devoted position of being Srimati Radhika's siksha guru.
