"I can not live without You". I am yours only -- A love letter written to Supreme personality of Godhead, and which is the world's first publicly published in the mankind ever. This is most lucidly narrated love letter to the most attractive person in all worlds that thrills, delights, evoke devotion in the inner recess of a JIVA to its fullest form. What one worship for?? Devotion? Liberation? Power? Money? He is the most powerful & affluent. Not only this all beauty, power, wealth, wisdom, opulence, & renunciation etc are acquired by his highest grace only. Knowing this the JIVA or individual soul is ready to put their love, affection for Krsna only & ready to be wedded to none else than Krsna. It is Lord's internal force Goddess Laxmi who sets out to show us the way in one of her particular incarnation " Rukmini" on this planet Earth. We can learn from Rukmini's letter the exhortation to surrender, to develop devotion, love & affection for the Krsna, which is a universal call in all spritiual tradition & vedic texts. Krsna expands Himself in various Vishnu tattva, so Srimati Radharani expands Herself into various sakti- tattva forms, by Her internal potency, as multiforms of the Goddess of Fortune- Laxmi. We must read, ponder & assimilate Rukmini's letter to strengthen our single minded devotion to the supreme personality of Godhead. SrimadBhagwatam, Canto 10, chapter 52 narrates, The words of Princess Rukmini's letter, as read by the Brahmana to Krishna, ' My dear Krsna, O infallible & most beautiful one of the worlds, having heard of Your qualities, which enter the ears of those who hear & remove their bodily distress & having also heard of Your beauty, name & fame, which fulfills all the visual desires of those who see. Thus all the material pangs subside, & one fixes Your form in his heart. Similarly I have heard of your transcendental qualities, I may be shameless in expressing myself directly you, O Krsna.
O Mukunda, You are equal only to Yourself in lineage, character, beauty, knowledge, youthfulness wealth & influence. O Lion among men, You delight the minds of all mankind. What aristocratic, sober minded & marriage able girl of a good family would not choose You as her husband when the proper time has come?
Therefore, my dear Lord, I have chosen You as my husband and I surrender myself to You, Please come swiftly, O Almighty one, and make me Yourself.
My dear Lotus eyed Lord, Let Sisupala never touch the Hero's portion like a jackal stealing the property of a Lion. If I have sufficiently worship the Supreme personality of Godhead by pious work, sacrifices, charity, rituals & vows & also by worshipping Demigods, Brahmana & Gurus, then may Hrishikesh come & take my hand, and not Damaghosa or anyone else.
O unconquerable one, tomorrow when my marriage with Sisupala is about to begin, You should arrive unseen in Vidarbha & surround yourself with the leaders of your army. Then crush the forces of Chedinaresh.& Magadhendra, & marry me in the Rakshas style, kidnapping & winning me with your Valour. Since I will be staying within the inner chamber of the palace completely fortified, You may wonder, " How can I carry you without killing some of your relatives"? But I shall tell you a way, on the day before marriage, there is a grand procession the new bride goes outside the city to visit Goddess Girija.
O lotus eyed one, great souls like Lord Shiva hanker to bath in the dust of Your Lotus feet & thereby destroy their ignorance. If I cannot obtain Your mercy, I shall simply give up my vital force which will have become weak from the severe penance I will perform. I can't live without You O my dear Lord.
