This summer, ISKCON Farmington Hills successfully organized four powerful Rathayatra festivals across Michigan—bringing the mercy of Lord Jagannath to the cities of Ann Arbor, Canton, Farmington Hills, and Lansing. Under the inspired spiritual leadership of Yugal Kishore Das, Temple President, several devotees joined hands and talents to build our own beautiful cart for this year’s Rathayatra, adding a new layer of devotion and community spirit to the celebrations. With each chariot festival, hundreds experienced the transcendental blessings of the Lord as the sacred sound of the maha-mantra echoed through parks, streets, and hearts. From first-time festivals to expanding annual traditions, this summer’s efforts were a monumental offering to Srila Prabhupada and a glorious display of devotional unity.
The season began with a historic Rathayatra in Ann Arbor on June 8 at Lillie Park South. Devotees pulled Lord Jagannath’s chariot through the park amid joyful kirtan, traditional Odissi and Bharatanatyam dance, and warm community participation. Attendees were invited to help pull the Lord’s chariot, symbolizing His compassion for all souls. A sumptuous feast of Krishna prasadam followed, offering nourishment for both body and soul.
