The story of Kubja, also known as Trivakra (one who's bent in three places), is something our morning sadhana crew is delighting in. Verse 10.42.10 from the Bhagavatam, goes like this in relation to the story. The hunchback Kubja said, "Come, O hero, let us go to my house. I cannot bear to leave you here. O best of males, please take pity on me, since you have agitated my mind."
The background to this message is that Krishna and brother Balarama entered the city of Mathura. On the way to delivering essential oils to the king, Kubja's eyes caught a hold of these two heart throbs and decided to give them a portion of her delivery. She was excited by them. Krishna reciprocated with her in response to the gift by giving her some chiropractic jerks. Her posture straightened out and in that process she became further aroused, putting out an invitation to him.
One of the commentators to the Bhagavatam had this to offer in his explanation which reads like a script.
Krishna: Is it for the purpose of dining that you're inviting me to your house?
Kubja: I simply can't leave you here.
Krishna: But people here on the king's road will misconstrue what you're saying and laugh. Therefore please don't speak like this.
Kubja: I can't help being agitated. You made the mistake of touching me. It's not my fault.
This is humourous.
