Early Life and Spiritual Journey
Born Bruce Enomoto on December 26, 1948, in Bralorn, British Columbia, Canada to Japanese parents, Bhanu Swami’s spiritual journey began with strong academic foundations. Before embracing spiritual life, he completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Oriental fine arts history from the University of British Columbia, establishing his scholarly inclinations early on.

His transformative spiritual journey began in 1970 when he joined the Hare Krishna movement in India during its formative years under Srila Prabhupada’s guidance. His dedication and sincerity quickly earned him initiation in 1971 from Srila Prabhupada himself, marking the beginning of his lifelong commitment to Krishna consciousness. After years of dedicated service, he embraced the renounced order of life (sannyasa) in 1984, fully dedicating himself to spiritual pursuits and organizational responsibilities within ISKCON.
