Dear Devotees;

My obeisances. Srila Prabhupada ki jai!

Last evening the Prime Minister put the UK in an effective lockdown with there now being only 4 reasons for leaving your home or temple;

1. Shopping for basic necessities such as food and medicine. Shopping trips should be as infrequent as possible

2. One form of exercise a day such as a run, walk or cycle. This should be done alone or only with people you live with

3. Any medical need, or to provide care or to help a vulnerable person. This includes moving children under the age of 18 between their parents’ homes, where applicable. Key workers or those with children identified as vulnerable can continue to take their children to school

4. Traveling to and from work, but only where work absolutely cannot be done from home

I humbly implore ALL devotees to *strictly* follow these instructions from the Government of the UK

We have seen restrictions increase on practically a daily basis in the last week or so and I do not doubt those restrictions will increase further. Instinctively applying such restrictions goes against the grain of how the UK has been governed for centuries. To me that is a clear indication that they are extremely concerned as to how bad this pandemic will prove to be. Information coming out of Italy & Spain shows that to be very much the reality

So for your own well-being, as well as the well-being of others, please follow the government instructions unerringly

In terms of our temples functioning during these extremely challenging times, our temples must be in lockdown too. That means no visitors. So the resident devotees of any given temple should maintain, as best as they can, the worship of their Deities. As all of our temples also rely on congregational devotees to assist with the Deity worship, the Deity program can be reduced accordingly

We now need to use the internet as much and as best as we can for outreach, giving as many as possible the soothing message of Sri Krishna Caitanya. In addition we must also use the internet and the phone to keep in touch with all our friends and supporters

To assist you with being as prepared as possible for this very new reality that we all have to become accustomed to, please find attached a checklist for each temple’s Coronavirus committee to assess its preparedness and the measures to put in place given the restrictions on movement & associating.

Please consider & record your actions/responses to each key consideration

I would like to thank Madhavi dasi for putting this document together in very quick time with her sole purpose being to assist us all during these exceptional times

Thank you all and take care

Your servant,

Praghosa dasa
