This year, Śivarāma Swami, a spiritual leader of ISKCON Hungary and disciple of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda, undertook an extraordinary physical challenge together with his personal assistant, Śyāma-bihārī Dāsa: completing a full circuit of Lake Balaton in Hungary, covering approximately 220 kilometers. Lake Balaton is located in western Hungary, relatively close to Krishna Valley, the ISKCON community and eco-village in Somogy County. He completed the swimming portion of the challenge, while Śyāma-bihārī covered the remaining distance by running.
The challenge began in the early hours of Sunday, 30 August. At approximately 4:30 a.m., Śivarāma Swami entered the water and began swimming in a direction determined by the prevailing wind and weather conditions. He was accompanied throughout by a support boat and a kayak, with a doctor and paramedic providing continuous medical supervision.
