Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur writes that even at the time of devastation the eternal Dhama Navadwipa remains in the same of a lotus flower with 8 petals. All the Avataras and the successful living entities will take shelter in one of the petals. Matsya Avatar will bring Vedas, which includes all knowledge in itself, to Vidyanagar, Ritudwipa, only for that this place is called as Vidyanagar.
When Lord Brahma felt the importance of starting the creation again, he watched to the emptied Earth with terrifying mood. And then Lord blessed him with His mercy in this place. Wishing to offer prayers Lord Brahma opened his mouth and that time wonderful Saraswati took birth from his tongue. Because of the power of Saraswati Brahma sang wonderful prayers to Krishna and felt himself very satisfied.
At that time Maya devi ordered all three gunas to be spread all other the creation in the banks of the river Viraja. Later all learned people started to work hard in discovering the Universe created by Maya. Taking shelter of this abode of Saraswati – Sharadha pitha learned rshis had success over ignorance. They learned 64 branches of knowledge and then they settled all over the world. But all the rhsis study their own branch of knowledge here in the holy place.
Valmiki Muni came here also and by the mercy of Narada Muni had “Ramayana”. Dhanvantari got “Ayurveda”, Vishvamitra and other rshis got knowledge of Dhanurvedas. Shaurana and other sages read Vedic mantras and Shiva discussed tantras. By the request of the rshis Brahma opened his mouth and from within appeared the Vedas. Living here Kapila Muni made the sankhya philosophy, Gautama gave efforts to logic and arguments. Kanaybhuk created here the philosophy of Vaisheshika, and Patanjali – yoga sutra. Jaimini wrote karma mimamsa shastra, and Vyasadev – Puranas. Five rhsis leaded by Narada Muni – Sandilya, Upagayana, Muanjayana, Kaushika and Bharadvaja – who in previous got knowledge form Lord Narayana in one day, wrote here Pancharatra and admonished people to the practice of devotional service.
Upanishads for long time worshiped here Lord Gauranga. Not revealing Himself to them Lord Gauranga told:
“Your imagination about God as an impersonal being ruins you. In the form of shruti you could not recognize Me, but when you will descend to the Earth you will see My pastimes with your own eyes. At that time with your cute voices you will sing my glories.”
Shruti were amazed with this information. Not opening a secret they stayed there and waited. Blessed this age of Kali, the greatest age among ages, because Lord Gauranga appeared in this age!
Hearing that Lord Gauranga is going to reveal His school years pastimes Brihaspati took birth here under the name of Vasudeva Sarvabhauma, eagerly wishing to please the Lord. He knew that Lord will be one of the students in Navadwipa and felt discomfort to the land of Indra and with great jubilance took birth on the Earth. Sarvabhauma opened his school and gave classes here in Vidyanagara. But thinking that he lost Gauranga and started to be a victim of dry knowledge he did the next. Before Lord Gauranga appeared Sarvabhauma left Nadia, leaving all his students. He thought: “I am a servant of Lord Gauranga. He will surely be merciful to me appear here.” Because of that Sarvabhauma went to Nilachala and became there famous as a learned mayavadi.
