Panca – vakra Siva tala
Once some brahmanas – devotees of Lord Shiva worshiped him here offering him the leaves of Beal tree. Among them there was a young brahmana – Nimbaditya who was very attentive in his worship. Lord Shiva talked to him:
“The village side there are sacred grow of Beal trees. On them there are sitting 4 Kumaras mediating. By their mercy you will get spiritual knowledge. They are your teachers.”
Saying this Lord Shiva disappeared. Nimbaditya soon went to look for that place and saw 4 Kumaras: Sanaka, Sanandana, Sanatana and Sanat Kumara. Nimbaditya excitedly exclaimed:
“Krishna! Krishna!”
Hearing the Holy Name, Kumaras came out from their meditation and saw a brahmana in front of them.
“Who you are?” they asked. “And why you came here? What do you want? We will fulfill your wish.”
Nibaditya paid obeisance to the sages and told his name. Sanat Kumar smiled and told:
“Knowing that the age of Kali will be full for troubles, all merciful Lord gave to his four associates the power of devotion and sent them to this material world in order to preach His glories. Names of those three are – Madhva, Ramanuja and Vishnuswami. You are the fourth of those great Devotees. Sometimes ago we used to worship the impersonal Brahman form of the Lord but now we tasted the sweetness of pure devotional service. I wrote a book “Sanat Kumara samhita” and you have to study that attentively.”
Seeing the mercy of Guru he immediately took bath in Ganges and came back. Kumaras gave to him initiation to Radha Krishna Mantra and instructions of how to serve to Supreme Couple in the mood of bhava marga.
Nimbaditya for some times stayed in this forest and worshiped Krishna, chanting His Names and studying “Sanat Kumara samhita”. Soon Lord Krishna and Srimati Radharani being satisfied with Nimbaditya appeared before him and They told:
“You are very fortunate. You used to perform devotional service in Navadwipa, the Holy abode, which is very dear to Us. Here we reveal Our united form of Sri Gaurahari.
Saying this Srimati Radharani and Krishna joined together in the form of Lord Chaitania. Nimbarka was shocked. And he cried out:
“I never heard about such like thing!”
Mahaprabhu told:
“Do not open this secret to anyone yet. Preach the glories of Krishna bhakti and the eternal pastimes of Radha Krishna. And when I come in this form which you see now you will also become one of My associates with the name Keshava Kashmiri. By the mercy of Saraswati you will understand My sublime nature, and will be free from pride and will take shelter from Me. And then only I will bestow you with bhakti and will send you to preach the devotional service to Lord. And now you can please Me preaching the philosophy of dvaitadvaita (monism and dualism) and keeping in secret the taken knowledge.
When Gaurachandra disappeared Nimbarka wept out of love. Paying obeisance to the lotus feet of his Gurus he went to preach Krishna bhakti.
Madan Gopal Temple
Not far from here there is the birth place of Sachimata. Nearly in the areas of present Temple 500 years ago there was her father’s house the famous astrologer Nilambara Chakravarti. Lord Chainatia used to come here.
Srila Prabhupada writes about Nilambara Chakravarti like the next:
“In “Gaura ganodesha dipika” (104) it is mentioned that in his previous life Nilambara Chakravarti was Garga Muni. Nowadays the descendents of Nilambara Chakravarti live in the village Magdoba, which is Faridpur, in Bangladesh…In “Prema vilasa” it is mentioned that Nilambara Chakravarti lived in Navadwipa in the village Belpukur. Because he used to live near to the house of Kazi he also was one of the uncles of Lord Chaitania. Truly established that the house of Kazi is in Vamanapur because there is his tomb. In this way Belapukur is the old name of Vamanpukur and this one is confirmed by archaeological evidences.”
Jananivas Prabhu:
“There is the Deity of Madan Gopal in Belpukur. He was worshiped by Nilambara Chakravarti and his daughter. When Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati began to organize parikramas in Navadwipa, local smatrha brahmanas disliked it. There was also a very big society of smarta brahmanas in Belpukur. When pilgrims came there they told to them: “There is no anything interesting. You cam go further.” But Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati told: “No, it is a holy place.”
There are three evidences in Belpukur which prove the sacredness of this place. The first is Bilva Pushkarini, the holy place where Kumaras instructed Nimbarka. The second – the Temple of Lord Shiva, Pancha vataka Shiva sthan. The ruins of this Temple is still possible to see under the grown banyan tree.
The third is the Deity to which used to worship Sachimata. He used to stand right on the roof of some of Devotees.
The house of Sachimata is in four miles away from Bilva pushkarini. But it was owned by smartas. When local Vaishnavas wanted to bring it back they did not allow them to do that. Vaishnavas told:
“Because here is Madan Gopal it is His place. He is here the Owner.”
And smartas thought: “If Madan Gopal is the owner then we have to remove Him.” And they through Him outside of that area. Vaishnavas took Him and kept Him in one Devotee’s roof. Devotees were very much afraid of shkatas. Later the worship was reestablished. Nevertheless there is a very nice Temple now.
The Devotees of ISKCON also worship at that Temple who repaired it and help to maintain it.
