Belakpur
Nadia ghat
This place is situated not far from Rudradwipa Gaudiya Math. At the present time it is under the Ganges as she changed her flows. In the times of Lord Chaitania this place was in the banks of Ganges just after the Rudrapur village.
“Nadia” means “uncompassionate, merciless”. In this place Lord Chaitania crossed the Ganges when He left to Katva to accept sannyasa. He left His mother, wife and many other Devotees, whose hearts were breaking in pain in separation from Him. Many people decided the act of Mahaprabhu as a cruel, and place from where He left the village as nadia – without mercy.
Indeed in “Navadwipa bhava Taranga” (135-137) Bhaktivinod Thakur gives to this title different interpretation. He writes:
“Sitting there I will meditate upon the lotus feet of Gauranga and later will see the wonderful Goddess. At that time when she notices me I will offer her my respects and will ask:
“What is your name Mother?”
With the tears in her eyes she will reply:
“Please hear me son, it is impossible to explain my pain. There are five types of liberation and to me given name is Sayuja or Nirvana. My four sisters – Salokhya, Saruphya, Samipya and Sarshti went to Vaikunthapur leaving me here in trouble.
By the mercy of Shiva, Dattatreya and other sages for some time paid to me their attention doing it sincerely but after some time they left me also. People say that they reside in Rudradwipa. But now I am trying to find them but my searches are fruitless. Where I can find them and when? Gauranga liberated them but for me there is no mercy. Because of that I will look for a suitable place for leaving my body. The name for him will be Nadia (ruthless).”
Belpukur (Bilva-paksha, Bel pukhariya)
This place got its name from the Beal trees that once grew here in abundance. The trees Beal are very dear to Lord Shiva because of that his devotees often offer to him the leaves of this tree. This place is non different from Bilvavavan one of the forests in Vrindavan.
