Daily number of rounds of Hare Krishna mahamantra.
min 16, not necessarily the best quality ...
When, where and how did you come into contact with the Hare Krishna Movement?
in October of 1982, in Toronto (my birthplace), I met Sanatana Goswami dasa .. (later Sanatana Dharma dasa) in front of the Eaton Centre in downtown Toronto around 3 or 3:30 pm; I had been into different religions / philosophies intensely for the better part of 8 months as the result of personal crisis .. I approached him, as he glowed and I had done a reading from the "I Ching" early in the morning indicating that I would that day meet a "great man" and "make an auspicious beginning" .. we spoke for 2 1/2 hours, he gave me beads, asked me to chant 4 rounds a day (!) (and showed me how, though I didn't take to it on my own well) as well as a Bhagavad-Gita, a Sri Isopanishad, and a couple of magazines (Origins I think, and maybe a BTG) .. This was my introduction to Srila Prabhupada's writing, which I immediately loved; although , later it became known to me that I had befriended an incognito devotee who was then an employee in one branch outlet of "The Health Shoppe" in North Toronto near where I worked in a Sporting Goods store. He was a follower of Jayatirtha and after we bumped into one another at the temple (both being surprised), he introduced me to books by B K Sridhar Maharaja, from "Search For Sri Krsna: Reality The Beautiful" fairly soon after it was first published, and so on .. I actually met Jayatirtha (then going by "Tirthapada" in Toronto at this devotees apartment a few blocks from New Remuna Dhama (ISKCON Toronto) in 1985 , He was obviously in a lot of distress and went outside to smoke some ganja while I was there .. he advised me to stay in the temple and work through the difficulties there as best I could (things weren't too rosy in those days, and I myself was suffering some mental distresses)
