Chanting Experiences

Radhe Krishna, Today, I visited ISKCON temple, Chennai, India and participated in the Bajan and listened to Gita discourse. I also bought Jaba Beads and pouch. Learned how to Chant Maha Mantra from a guru ji there in the stall. Overall, very very happy and enlightening experience. Just now concluded 2 rounds of Maha mantra chanting. As one of my colleague and initiated disciple, told me, I have started chanting say 2 rounds initially, once I am comfortable with my concentration, then increase to 4, 8 and finally hit the mark 16 times. I have long way to go, but now very very happy because, I have surrendered to Lord Krishna and he is holding my hand and guiding me.

Anyone from Chennai in this group? Like to join hand with devotees, may be we can meet and share our chanting experiences.

    Hare Krishna,

    Please accept my humble obeisances, all glories to Srila Prabhupada!

    I was first introduced to KC back in 1986 from my climbing partner and a KC devotee, it took many years for the seed he planted to sprout. Back in June of 2013 I ordered a copy of the Bhagavad gita as it is and started reading it, then exactly a year later I ordered deities (Sri Sri Rahda Krishna). then is September of this year started chanting one round and attended Janmastami. Now I just completed the ISKCON disciples course this past weekend on the appearance day of Lord Nityananda. I also started chanting 16 rounds on the same day, all can do this just open your heart to Lord Krishna and you will receive His mercy!

    Wishing you well in your KC. May I share, 14th October 1980 is when my dear papa left to meet

    with Krsna. So on 14th Oct 2012, I received Krsna in the form of full set of Shrimad Bhagawatam in my house.

    I wanted my papa to know that I am well taken care of by  Krsna. KRSNA is my guardian, perfect friend,uncle,aunt,everThing. Meaning I read Shrimad Bhagawatam and other Books by Srila Prabhupada, this is pleasing to Krsna and my papa too. There is no greater  support than these teachings for me.

    This is all the help in life I need. :)

    Hare Krsna, Its really nice to read your experience! I am also from chennai, and I visit ISKCON Temple quite frequently. May I know where you stay in chennai? Lets keep in touch!

    So how do we have to chant? Any specific thing we should keep in mind.

      We should chant in a prayerful mood, keeping Krsna's form (rupa) and His pastimes (lila) in our mind. In this way our minds wont deviate to other thoughts. Whenever our mind seems to deviate, we should bring it back. Constant practice will help us. Hari BOL!!
