CHANTING THE HOLY NAME OF LORD KRISHNA. Part 9.

In the Padma Purana, it is stated, " Even if in the beginningone chants the holy name with offenses, one will becomefree from such offenses by chanting again and again."In Shri Krishna-Namashtaka, it is stated, " O holy name ofKrishna! You are the life force of Shri Narada`s veena andYou are constantly increasing the sweetness of the delightfulwaves in the ocean of nectar. Out of Your causeless mercy, kindly appear on my tongue incessantly and bestow mewith unalloyed affection to the Lord."In the Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu, it is stated, " No one canunderstand the transcendental nature of the name, form, quality and pastimes of Shri Krishna through his materiallycontaminated senses. Only when he becomes spirituallysaturated by transcendental service to the Lord, whichstarts with the tongue, are the transcendental name, form, quality and pastimes of the Lord revealed to Him."In Shri Krishna-Namashtaka, it is stated," O illuminating sunof the holy name of Krishna! If any person by his chantingcan even obtain a mere shadow of Your splendour, thenYou dissipate the gloom of nescience that drags him intothe darkness of the material world. You reward even theblind fools who are bereft of any spiritual knowledge withthe vision that enables them to take up devotional service. Therefore, O Shri harinama, who in this world is able toproperly describe Your glories?"In the Garuda Purana, it is stated, " If one chants the holyname of the Lord, even in a helpless condition, all thereactions of his sinful life depart, just as when a lion roars, all the small animals flee in fear."In Shri-Krishna-Namashtaka, it is stated, " O holy name! Youappear in two forms: the Deity form of the Supreme Lord, and Your transcendental name. Of these two, we considerthe form of the holy syllables to be infinitely morecompassionate than the form of the Deity. Because if aperson haven taken shelter of the Deity form commitsoffenses, the only recourse he has, is to become the servantof the holy name and chant incessantly Krishna, Govinda andso on. By Your immeasurable transcendental potency, all hisoffenses disappear and he experiences uninterrupted joy, submerged in an ocean of ecstasy."In the Padma Purana, it is stated, " The Holy name of Krishnais transcendentally blissful. It bestows all spiritual benedictions, for it is Krishna Himself, the reservoir of all transcendentalmellows. It is not a material name under any condition, and itis as powerful as Krishna Himself. Since the holy name ofKrishna is not contaminated by the material qualities, there isno question of its being involved with maya. The holy name ofKrishna is always liberated and spiritual. It is never conditionedby the laws of material nature This is because the holy nameof Krishna and krishna Himself are identical."In the Garuda Purana, it is stated, " O best of Kings, if you wantto achieve the highest knowledge by which you may attain thesupreme abode, then perform Govinda Kirtanam with firm faith."In the Skanda Purana, it is stated, " There are six kinds ofoffenses against Vaishnavas wich makes one fall down:1. To kill a Vaishnava.2. To blaspheme Vaishnavas.3. To become envious of Vaishnavas.4. To fail to offer obeisance to a Vaishnava.5. To become angry with a Vaishnava.6. To not be happy on seeing a Vaishnava."In the Brhad-Bhagavatamrta, it is stated, " All glories, all gloriesto the all blissful holy name of Lord Krishna, which causes thedevotee to give up all conventional religious duties, meditationand worship. When somehow or other uttered even once by aliving entity, the holy name awards him liberation. The holyname of Krishna is the highest nectar. It is my very lifeand my only treasure."In Shri Krishna-Namashtaka, it is stated, " O holy name! Youdestroy the entirety of the sufferings of Your surrendereddevotees. You are eternally manifest in the transcendentalform of intensified bliss. To the residents of Gokula, You arethe source of unending festival of joy and divine pleasure, and You are always saturated in Your magnificent glory andsweetness. I offer my repeated obeisances unto Your lotus feet."In the Padma Purana, it is stated, " If a devotee once utters theholy name of the Lord, or if it penetrates his mind or entershis ear, which is the channel of aural reception, that holy namewill certainly deliver him from material bondage, whether vibratedproperly or improperly, with correct or incorrect grammar, andproperly joined or vibrated in separated parts. O brahmana, thepotency of the holy name is therefore certainly great. However, ifone uses the vibration of the holy name for the benefit of thematerial body, for material wealth and followers, or under theinfluence of greed and atheism; in other words, if one utters theholy name with offenses; such chanting will not produce thedesired result very soon. Therefore, one should diligentlyavoid offenses in chanting the holy name of the Lord."In the Adi Purana, it is stated, " There is no vow like chanting theholy name; no knowledge superior to it; no meditation whichcomes anywhere near it; and it gives the highest result. Nopenance is equal to it, and nothing is as potent or powerful asthe holy name. Chanting the holy name of the Lord is the greatestact of piety and the supreme refuge. Even the words of the Vedasdo not possess sufficient power to describe its magnitude.Chanting the holy name of the Lord is the highest path toliberation, peace and eternity. It is the pinnacle of devotion. It is the natural inclination and joyous attraction of the heart. It is the best form of remembrance of the Supreme Lord. The holy name has appeared solely for the benefit of the livingentities as their Lord and master; their supreme worshippableobject and their spiritual guide and mentor."In Shri Krishna-Namashtaka, it is stated, " O Shri Harinama! The entire galaxy of Upanishads, which are like a necklace ofmost precious gems, are serving the toenails of Your lotus feetwith their brilliance. In such a way, the Vedic scriptures areconstantly glorifying Your lotus feet. Great Yogis, sages andliberated transcendentalists are engaging in worshipping You.Therefore I fully surrender unto You andhumbly pray for Your shelter."
