Maya has two powers.The first covers usand the second throws us downinto materialistic life.When we are covered by maya,we lose all power of discrimination,and then maya throws usinto the darkness of ignorance,devoid of spiritual knowledge.When we wrongly consider ourselvesto be independent of Krsna,we become obsessedwith enjoying material life,and as we grow old,we become filled with fear,worries and lamentation.We are not meantto enjoy material life, butto engage in devotional lifein service to Krsnain Krsna consciousness.This will bring ustranscendental happinesswhich is on a higher platformthan material happiness.
