Hare Krishna.

Quotes by Srila Prabhupada on Everyone Being A Preacher

Please accept my good wishes for a very devotional Kartik month.

I had two small realisations around preaching recently and an important lesson, I am sharing the same.

As the month of  Kartik approached this year, the enthusiasm within my own self was not so high. I did not know the reasons. Last Monday, 26th October,  I had to give a class at a home program. At the office I thought that as Kartik is starting from the next so it may be a good idea to share a

Kartika Mass @ ISKCON, Ludhiana

Kartika Mass @ ISKCON, Ludhiana Sri Sri Jagannath Temple (ISKCON) celebrated the arrival of auspicious Kartik month with ecstatic kirtan, lamp offering to Lord Damodar, recitation of Damodarastakam prayer and discourses. Devotees offered lights to Their Lordship after Gaura Aarti. Lamp offering will continue for the whole month of Kartika. It is said that since this month is very dear to Krishna by performing austerities, or restraining one’s sense gratification and performing activities to please the senses of the Lord, one becomes very dear to the Krishna. As Satya-yuga is the best of yugas, as the Vedas are the best of scriptures, as Ganga is the best of rivers, so Kartika is the best of months, the most dear to Krishna.

Of this there is no doubt.” “A person who offers a lamp during the month of Karttika attains a result that cannot be obtained with even a hundred yajnas or a hundred pilgrimages.” “Even a person addicted to all sins and averse to all pious deeds who somehow offers a lamp during Karttika becomes purified. One of the most important of these ceremonial functions is called Urja-vrata. Urja-vrata is observed in the month of Karttika (October-November); especially in Vrndavana, there is a specific program for temple worship of the Lord in His Damodara form. “Damodara” refers to Krsna’s being bound with rope by His mother, Yasoda. It is said that just as Lord Damodara is very dear to His devotees, so the month known as Damodara or Karttika is also very dear to them.
