Devotee (3): Srila Prabhupada, when we are preaching to Christian people or to Muslim people, is there advantage in being familiar with their scriptures or simply Bhagavad-gita, Srimad-Bhagavatam?

Prabhupada: We are not preaching to Christian or Hindu or Muslim. We are preaching to human being. We do not see, "Here is a Christian. Here is a Muslim. Here is a Hindu. Here is a white man. Here is a black man." No. Every living being, his duty is tounderstand God. This is our preaching. This is our p

ISKCON centers are like oasis

2514807951?profile=original

"Our centres are like the oasis in a vast desert. In the desert there is no water, but occasionally if one is fortunate he may come in contact with an oasis and he is saved. Similarly in this material world we are drying up due to lack of spiritual knowledge. Our ISKCON centres are meant to give relief to the dried up conditioned souls who are searching after the nectar of joyful life."

No nonsense approach to preaching

Dr. O.B.L. Kapoor, Srila Prabhupada's Godbrother, paid a visit with his wife and one of his friends during the gaura-arati. Srila Prabhupada was happy to see him and shared some of the highlights of his recent world tour. He had me bring out all the press clippings, taking particular pride in the Melbourne Age's front page article, "His Divine Grace is Here to Hound Us," which quoted Srila Prabhupada as saying that the U.N. is an assembly of barking dogs.

Parents Reaction to Children joining Iskcon

This mentality of Prajāpati Dakṣa still continues even today. When young boys join the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement, their fathers and so-called guardians are very angry at the propounder of the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement because they think that their sons have been unnecessarily induced to deprive themselves of the material enjoyments of eating, drinking and merrymaking. Karmīs, fruitive workers, think that one should fully enjoy his present life in

How to Become Closer to Krishna???

With whatever little knowledge I am acquiring by washing my feet with the waves, coming from the Ocean of ISKCON (under the guidance of my Councelor Shri Adbhuta Gauranga Das Prabhuji of Hyderabad), I am sharing with you:

How to Become Closer to Krishna???

1.   Krishna’s first mercy on a person is to crush him & thus the wretched fellow has no one to turn but to him. – Vandanam.

2.  To the maximum extent possible, try to see Krishna in everyone, everything & every place, therefore, u can be in inti

I am attaching herewith a Photo taken from my cellphone.  The scenario is a dirty / muddy / stagnated / rain water before my Office, in which Lotus are taking their shape into a Beautiful Flowers, worth Offering to the Feet of Lord.

 Inferences from the Photo:

1) This Material World is full of Contamination like the dirty / muddy, stagnated rain water.  There are many Non-Devotees in this Material World, just like frogs, insects, fish, in that dirty / muddy / stagnated water.  But a True, Pious V

Dear Purnacandra Goswami,
Please accept my most humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
It was with great sorrow that I heard about your sudden departure from this world. Although we regularly hear about these things in sastra and are constantly preparing ourselves for such inevitable events, somehow when they actually happen we seem totally unprepared. And so it is that I can hardly believe you are no longer among us.
Your departure leaves a deep sadness in my heart. It is said that ti

H.H. Indradyumna Swami Maharaj : Past, Present and Future

Srila Prabhupada: “Yes. There is the Brighu Samhitaa astrological calculation. You can know your past life, present life and future life. That is the system, Brighu Samhitaa.”

Incident

Before leaving Vrindavan for the West, I told Sri Prahlada das that I wanted to take darsan of the famous Deity of Sri Nathji, in Rajasthan. The Deity was discovered on Govardhan Hill by a great devotee, Madhavendra Puri, more than 500 years ago, before the ad

Parents Reaction to Children Joining Iskcon

Sometimes a saintly person is misunderstood by gṛhasthas, especially when he instructs their young sons to accept Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Generally a gṛhastha thinks that unless one enters gṛhastha life he cannot properly enter the renounced order. If a young man immediately adopts the path of the renounced order in accordance with the instructions of Nārada or a member of his disciplic succession, his parents become very angry. This same phenomenon is occ

Parents Reaction to their Children joining Iskcon

The Haryaśvas, the sons of Prajāpati Dakṣa, were very well behaved, cultured sons, but unfortunately, because of the instructions of Nārada Muni, they deviated from the order of their father. When Dakṣa heard this news, which was brought to him by Nārada Muni, he began to lament. Although he was the father of such good sons, he had lost them all. Certainly this was lamentable.

Practical philosophy of the Bhagavad-gita

Philosophical ways are practical and it is no use simply by indulging in speculation without any practical result just like to keep a cow without any milk. We must always seek a practical value from philosophy for the benefit of all. The mission with which you have started your service inspired me to help you as far as possible and I thought it fit to inform you that your mission can be well guided by the practical philosophy of the Bhagavad-gita. Present life is not all in all

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Aba6Qt3k1zU/SfrwjVF_jDI/AAAAAAAAK2I/XdQKwALxdRY/s400/reincarnation.jpg

Please do not be carried away by the mis given mind to conclude that the present life is all in all. You are eternal, and the present form of human life is a chance of realizing your eternal life. Do not spoil your life simply by serving the mis given mind and the uncontrolled senses. Please do not become your own enemy by your own self
