Being sick is a serious ordeal these days. If it is a serious illness, it is double trouble. Willpower and wallet are put to test. Gauranga Dasa, a devotee from Odessa, found himself in such a difficult situation.

In March 2022, after an emergency operation for peritonitis, Gauranga Prabhu heard a terrible diagnosis – cancer.

There was a difficult operation where some of his intestines were taken out and his stomach was put in place, followed by an exhausting 5 cycles of chemotherapy. By the Lord’s mercy, Gauranga Dasa lived through all of this, but it almost took away his strength. There arose problems related to the kidneys, liver, and skin. Unfortunately, these were not all the trials that befell the devotee. Because of the intense stress, his wife fell ill as well and has had to be hospitalized and received operations herself.

At the end of September, Gauranga Dasa went through the 6th chemotherapy cycle, after which another difficult operation to restore the intestines will follow.

Thanks to constant serious spiritual practice, and the support of devotees and family, Gauranga Dasa has retained his inner strength and is determined to persevere.

For that to be achieved, it is crucial to have good nutrition, and support for internal organs – the liver and the kidneys. Such operations are not cheap. and the family has almost no money left.

Read more: https://iskconnews.org/24075-2/

ADOPT A YATRA – NEW Ukraine Patronage Campaignhttps://iskcondesiretree.com/profiles/blogs/adopt-a-yatra-new-ukraine-patronage-campaign2022-09-14T10:55:16.000Z2022-09-14T10:55:16.000ZISKCON Desire Treehttps://iskcondesiretree.com/members/iskcon_desire_tree

Oleg Prabhu is a vaishnava from Melitopol. The city has been occupied by the Russian army since March. He needs our help to evacuate his family.

Oleg Prabhu tells us:

“Since the war broke out, the city has been occupied, there are a lot of military men on the streets and right in front of our house. The city is shelled all the time, something explodes almost every night. Because of this, my wife often has panic attacks and, in general, she is depressed, all the side effects following (sleep disturbance, apathy and weakness in general). My son is 12 years old and, although he used to be very cheerful before the ear broke out, he does not even want to go to the seaside and be in the nature. My brother is also very depressed. The only thing that saves me is volunteering in Food for Life and the fact that I am immersed in helping other people and associating with like-minded people for half a day. But, when I come back home, it hurts to see my family like this and I can only help them when I leave for a safer place.”

They have to pass a long way through the third countries because there is no guarantee to stay alive during front-line crossing. They have some savings but its not enough, they require another USD 1,400. Please, help to save the lives of Oleg prabhu and his family.

Anadi Prabhu really needs our help! He is one of the senior Vaishnavas of the Kherson Yatra in Ukraine. He is very dear to devotees far beyond his yatra. He is always very attentive and caring when dealing with others, now he needs our support. His city is on the frontline; because of it, Anadi Prabhu has no income left.
Stoka Krsna Prabhu, Kherson Yatra leader says, “Anadi Prabhu (Oleksandr Kharlamov) is, literally, the most hard-working devotee in the Kherson community. He is responsible for building the Kherson Temple. He is the treasurer and accountant of the yatra. He is in charge of the temple market. He serves as a cook. He keeps track of sankirtana statistics. He arranges the printing of Vaishnava books. He is always reliable and responsive to devotees’ requests. He is respected and has authority among the devotees. He is a member of the temple council and vice president of the community.”

Read more: https://iskconnews.org/ukraine-anadi-prabhu-really-needs-our-help/

Share Your Care by Bhaktimarga Swamihttps://iskcondesiretree.com/profiles/blogs/share-your-care-by-bhaktimarga-swami2022-07-14T10:53:21.000Z2022-07-14T10:53:21.000ZISKCON Desire Treehttps://iskcondesiretree.com/members/iskcon_desire_tree

I know you all feel like you want to help with what's going on in Ukraine. Our Hare Krishna movement has an ISKCON temple in Lviv, Ukraine currently serving as a refugee centre. I want to share with you some information so that you can get involved in this important support program. Below is content taken from Share Your Care regarding Ukrainian Krishna devotees needing our help in Lviv. I will include the link to the site at the bottom of this entry for more information.

"Both Share Your Care team and Lviv Yatra are extremely grateful to ISKCON Canada for adopting the Lviv Yatra.

The Lviv yatra has played a unique role for Ukrainian devotees. Located on the western border of Ukraine, it hosted hundreds of devotees who were forced to flee their homes in the north, east and south of the country. This yatra provided emergency care to Vaisnavas. It did it especially in the first weeks of the war when there was a massive influx of Ukrainian citizens crossing the border with Poland. It was cold and people had sometimes been traveling for several days before reaching Lviv. The Vaisnavas launched a grand-scale Food For Life program. 200,000 portions of prasadam have been distributed to those in need. To this day, the FFL team is still rendering this service. They go to cities which are being shelled.

Despite the fact that the Lviv temple is under construction, it hosts 35-50 devotees. So far Share Your Care fund has been transferring USD 2000 to the yatra monthly. It has been enough to cover monthly bhoga and utility bills. You can find Vasuttama Prabhu’s report about Lviv yatra in this inspiring video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vd5q7P3deaM

We encourage you to share your care with this wonderful yatra. We will help you to communicate with the devotees directly. You will be able to get to know their needs first hand and share the joy of serving Srila Prabhupada’s mission with them.”

Source: http://thewalkingmonk.blogspot.com/2022/07/monday-july-4-2022.html

New and Improved Share Your Care Website by Kamala Radha devi dasihttps://iskcondesiretree.com/profiles/blogs/new-and-improved-share-your-care-website-by-kamala-radha-devi-das2022-05-11T09:00:00.000Z2022-05-11T09:00:00.000ZISKCON Desire Treehttps://iskcondesiretree.com/members/iskcon_desire_tree

1: Vraja Jivana Das and Yamuna Jivani Devi Dasi live in Oleshki in the Kherson region, which is presently blockaded and under Russian occupation. Currently, it is not possible to go in or out of the city and no humanitarian aid is allowed in. Due to this, stores ran out of provisions and have been empty for a couple of days now. The devotees are very grateful for the financial support that was given to them in their time of need. They were able to buy some provisions and keep a small reserve, and thanks to this financial support this family was even able to plant vegetables on their land. This family has shared with us that they feel encouraged because they feel like they have not been forgotten and are thankful that they have been financially supported in their time of need. They are even using their situation to preach to friends and family about Krishna Consciousness by explaining the mercy shown to them by Srila Prabhupada’s mercy and their ISKCON extended family.

Read more: https://iskconnews.org/ukrainian-stories-from-the-frontlines/

Ukrainian Stories From the Front Lineshttps://iskcondesiretree.com/profiles/blogs/ukrainian-stories-from-the-front-lines2022-03-22T12:03:26.000Z2022-03-22T12:03:26.000ZISKCON Desire Treehttps://iskcondesiretree.com/members/iskcon_desire_tree
