Devotees from across New Zealand came to ISKCON Auckland to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Sri Sri Radha Giridhari Temple from January 19-21, 2024.

Day one began with a kirtan festival followed by a Rath Yatra on the second day of festivities. The main celebration was the third day with the Chandan Yatra and a flower abhishek of the Deities, Sri-Sri Radha Giridhari. The temple leadership also reverently celebrated the inauguration of the Ayodhya temple on January 22nd with an abhishek of Lord Rama followed by sumptuous prasadam.

Srila Prabhupada personally installed the deities at ISKCON’s first New Zealand temple, a small rented house at 155 Landscape Road, on April 18th, 1972. They were then moved to a temple at 67 Gribblehirst Road, just a block away. In 1978, after Prabhupada’s departure, devotees purchased the 100-acre where these latest festivities were held. This celebration commemorates when the deities were installed in their present location back in 2004.

Kalasamvara Das, Temple President of ISKCON Auckland, acknowledged the devotees’ contribution to the installation of the deities and the opening of the temple. He fondly recalled Srila Prabhupada’s guidance during the installation ceremony, remembering how Tusta Krishna Das had brought Sri-Sri Radhe Giridhari from India to Auckland himself.

Read more: https://iskconnews.org/iskcon-auckland-celebrated-20th-anniversary-of-sri-sri-radha-giridhari-temple/

Thousands Gather at ISKCON Auckland for Festival of Colourshttps://iskcondesiretree.com/profiles/blogs/thousands-gather-at-iskcon-auckland-for-festival-of-colours2024-02-27T13:30:50.000Z2024-02-27T13:30:50.000ZISKCON Desire Treehttps://iskcondesiretree.com/members/iskcon_desire_tree

On Sunday, February 11th, ISKCON Auckland hosted their annual Festival of Colours, welcoming thousands to the Hare Krishna Centre campus, a 100-acre haven located 30 minutes drive from Auckland city center in New Zealand.

Organizers said around 9,000 pre-registered for the free afternoon event, but around 15,000 showed up for the festivities. Guests enjoyed the color throws, music, vegetarian food, as well as visiting booths that taught about chanting and shared Srila Prabhupada’s books.

A local member of Parliament, Chris Penk, spoke from the stage, saying that the contribution of the Hare Krishna community is deeply appreciated by the larger New Zealand society, “It gives me great pride to see such a gathering here today, everyone enjoying themselves…the values that you bring, the contribution you make is suitable for every New Zealander to take note of and to enjoy.” The event was covered by local and Indian media.

Read more: https://iskconnews.org/thousands-gather-at-iskcon-auckland-for-festival-of-colours/

ISKCON Auckland New Zealand Celebrates Expansive Rath Yatrahttps://iskcondesiretree.com/profiles/blogs/iskcon-auckland-new-zealand-celebrates-expansive-rath-yatra2024-02-03T16:05:14.000Z2024-02-03T16:05:14.000ZISKCON Desire Treehttps://iskcondesiretree.com/members/iskcon_desire_tree

ISKCON Auckland, New Zealand, orchestrated a splendid series of Rath Yatras spanning from November 25 to December 16, 2023. This grand celebration magnetized thousands of people who assembled fervently around the majestic chariots carrying the Deities of Lord Jagannath, Baladeva, and Subhadra.

In 1976, Srila Prabhupada installed the deities of Lord Jagannath, Baladeva, and Subhadra in Auckland, and since that auspicious installation, the annual Rath Yatra, a festivity venerating the chariots of Their Lordships, has grown into a cherished tradition, attracting a diverse assembly of participants.

Kalasamvara Das, President and Chairman, ISKCON Auckland New Zealand, said, “Expanding Rath yatra had been a long desire of ours in Auckland as part of our outreach preaching strategy to reach the wider community. Seeing the many Xmas parades going on yearly and already having a smaller rathcart which would fit the purpose, we decided to approach the organizers of each place, and the rest is history.”

In addition to the Auckland Central Business District (CBD), or Auckland city center, which is the geographical and economic heart of the Auckland metropolitan area, the rathcart also traversed through suburbs and other cities like Orewa, Kumeu, Onehunga, Hamilton, and more.

Read more: https://iskconnews.org/iskcon-auckland-new-zealand-celebrates-expansive-rath-yatra/
