On the 20th of June, 2023, the city of Jhenaidah in Bangladesh celebrated the three grand Ratha Yatra, a vibrant and significant event in the Gaudiya Vaishnavism tradition.

Rath Yatra, the grand procession of Lord Jagannath, is a momentous spiritual event celebrated annually in the city of Jhenaidah, Bangladesh. Jhenaidah District, located in southwestern Bangladesh as part of the Khulna Division, holds special significance in the Gaudiya Vaishnavism tradition due to its connections with renowned spiritual personalities.

The birthplace of Srila Loknath Goswami, a prominent associate of Caitanya Mahaprabhu, is situated in Jhenaidah’s Talkhari village. The descendants of Srila Loknath Goswami’s younger brother, Pragalabh, still reside in Talkhari, preserving the spiritual heritage of the area. Additionally, during the British era, Jhenaidah had the privilege of hosting Thakur Bhaktivinod, a revered spiritual figure and judge. The visit of Caitanya Mahaprabhu to Jhenaidah further solidified the deep connection between the city and Gaudiya Vaishnavism.

The Rath Yatra celebration in Jhenaidah city is jointly organized by the Shri Shri Jagannath Temple, Bujitala, Vedic City, and the Central Temple of Jhenaidah District. These temples attract thousands of devotees from different neighborhoods of the city. The event is led by the esteemed spiritual guidance of HH Subhag Swami.

The disciples of HH Subhag Swami, led by HG Bhaktiratna das, along with approximately 15 full-time Brahmacari devotees, are diligently preparing for the grand Rath Yatra celebration. They are making splendid arrangements, ensuring every detail is taken care of to create a memorable and spiritually enriching experience for all participants.

Srila Prabhupada showed that no other material endeavors to achieve unity among the people of the world would be as effective as the festival of carts. Spiritual activities like Ratha-yatra would do a lot in creating unity by bringing all under the shelter of Lord Jagannatha.

The inauguration of the Rath Yatra involves the presence of esteemed local dignitaries, including Mayor Mr.saidul korim Mintu and Chairman of the Hindu-Buddhist Council, Babu Narayan Chandra Biswas. Political and Hindu community leaders, as well as officers-in-charge of the local police station, also attend the inauguration of the chariot procession.

The procession itself is inaugurated by several other political figures and Hindu leaders. Prominent attendees include the Chairman of the Bangladesh Puja Celebration Committee, the General Editor of the Bangladesh Awami League District Central Committee, and the Chairman of the District Council, Babu Konok Kanti Das. The vibrant procession comprises approximately five to six thousand devotees from different neighborhoods of Jhenaidah city. Prasad (holy offering) is distributed among the devotees. The grand procession commences at Baroari Mandir (temple) and culminates at Masir Bari Central Mandir (temple). The chanting of Lord Jagannath’s eternal glory by thousands of devotees fills the entire city of Jhenaidah, heightening their enthusiasm and devotion.

The procession commences from Baroari Mandir, also known as the Twelve-pillared Temple, and concludes at the Madan Mohan Mandir in “Masir Bari” Central Temple.

Devotees enthusiastically participate in the procession, fervently chanting the sacred names of Lord Jagannath, such as “Jay Jagannath,” and the Hare Krishna Mahamantra. The reverberating sounds fill the atmosphere with a profound spiritual energy. People dance with such joy and abandon that it seems as if they are leaping towards the heavens. The rhythmic beats of the Mridanga and Kartal instruments compel everyone to sway and move, expressing their deep devotion.

Since the morning, the distribution of Prasadam, sacred food offered to the Lord, had been ongoing. Despite heavy rains prior to the commencement of the Ratha Yatra, thousands of volunteers wearing identical Genji attire appeared like divine beings. These garments were later distributed among the devotees as well, symbolizing unity and shared devotion.

The Rath Yatra tradition originated in Puri, where millions of people gather annually to witness the grand procession. Thanks to the efforts of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder of ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness), the celebration of Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra has expanded to cities and countries worldwide. Through his endeavors, countless souls across the globe have received the grace and mercy of Lord Jagannath.

We are delighted to inform you that the devotees of Jhenaidah successfully organized three Similar Ratha Yatra festivals in Jhenaidah City, Bhujitala Village, and Harinikunda. With the blessings of HH Subhag Swami and Srila Prabhupada, these festivals were a great success.

HG Maniram Prabhu played a key role as the main leader in Bhujitala Village, while HG KarunaSagar Prabhu led the festivities in Harinikunda. Prasadam distribution was carried out extensively in all three locations, adding to the joyous atmosphere.

Currently, the festivities continue for nine days, featuring stage dramas, Harikatha, and Prasadam distribution. These activities serve as a wonderful platform for devotees and the local community to come together, celebrate, and deepen their spiritual connection.

Congratulations once again on the successful organization of these Ratha Yatra festivals. May the remaining days be filled with blissful celebrations, enlightening discourses, and the sharing of sacred Prasadam.

The Rath Yatra in Jhenaidah, along with similar celebrations in various parts of the world, offers devotees an opportunity to deepen their devotion to Lord Jagannath and seek His blessings and divine audience. It serves as a reminder of the rich spiritual heritage of Jhenaidah and the profound impact of Lord Jagannath’s mercy on devotees worldwide.

Source: http://www.dandavats.com/?p=109615

“Ratha Yatra Celebrated Successfully in Chandaikona, Bangladesh”https://iskcondesiretree.com/profiles/blogs/ratha-yatra-celebrated-successfully-in-chandaikona-bangladesh2023-06-26T14:30:30.000Z2023-06-26T14:30:30.000ZISKCON Desire Treehttps://iskcondesiretree.com/members/iskcon_desire_tree

A grand celebration of the Jagannath Ratha Yatra was held in Chandai Kona, Sirajganj, under the guidance of His Holiness Subhaga Swami Gurumaharaj. The auspicious occasion of the Rathayatra festival brought together devotees to celebrate the divine presence of Lord Jagannath, Baladeva, and Subhadra Maharani.

HG Haridev Prabhu, a disciple of HH Subhag Swami, wholeheartedly tried his best to bring together people from all walks of society to seek Jagannath’s mercy. This festival took place for the first time in this area, despite numerous obstacles. However, by the mercy of Jagannath, a successful Ratha Yatra celebration was held.

The ceremony commenced with Mr. Babu Channcal Kumar Kundu, Editor of Religious Establishment Conservation, Bogra District Branch, and former VP of Haji Wahid Mariam College, offering prayers to the deities on the chariot of Sri Vigraha Gan. This inauguration marked the beginning of a joyous procession that lasted from 2 PM to 8 PM.

The deities visited several villages in a specific sequence, including Sarutia, Khalishagari, Bhawanipur, Faridpur, Bandihar, Gothita, Shyampur, and Shaliyagari. The warm reception by the villagers, who showered the deities with flowers, garlands, sweets, and paddy grass, demonstrated their deep devotion and love for Lord Jagannath. Dance performances and the distribution of prasad, especially the khichdi, further enhanced the festive atmosphere.

Local devotees were immensely delighted and encouraged by the grand procession. Their promise to organize an even more splendid Rathayatra next year reflects their dedication and commitment to the worship of Lord Jagannath. The efficient management of Mr. Madhusudan Das, the esteemed president of Sri Jagannath Seva Sangha, as well as the presence and participation of devoted individuals like Govinda Prabhu, Subhash Prabhu, Vishwanath Prabhu, and many others, contributed to the success of the event.

Anticipation builds for the upcoming Ulta Rathayatra, scheduled for Tuesday, with the hope that it will be conducted smoothly and gracefully. May Lord Jagannath’s blessings be with all the devotees of Jagannath Seva Sangha, guiding them on their spiritual journey.

Source: http://www.dandavats.com/?p=109562

Inaugral opening of the Sri Sri Gaura Nitai preaching center in Mymensingh, Bangladesh and Nrsimhadeva Caturdasihttps://iskcondesiretree.com/profiles/blogs/inaugral-opening-of-the-sri-sri-gaura-nitai-preaching-center-in-m2023-05-21T11:51:33.000Z2023-05-21T11:51:33.000ZISKCON Desire Treehttps://iskcondesiretree.com/members/iskcon_desire_tree

On May 4th, Nrsimhadeva Caturdasi was celebrated for the inaugral opening of the Sri Sri Gaura Nitai preaching center in Mymensingh, Dhaka, Bangladesh. This celebration was an event two years in the making born of humble beginnings. The project has recently progressed to the point of purchasing land within the heart of the city, with plans to build a temple.

The land of Bangladesh is historically entwined with the culture of Gaudiya Vaishnavism, and Mymensingh is no exception. It was the brief residence of Bhaktivinoda Thakur in 1889, who has played a key role in the revival of Gaudiya Vaishnavism in the modern era.

The center in Mymensingh is all developing by the mercy of Lord Nrsimhadeva, and praise goes to the devotees who have worked diligently to develop the project under the grace and guidance of His Holiness Subhag Swami. The center began with two brahmacaris, His Grace Biswarupa Das and His Grace Bhakti Bibek Das, whose dedication and perserverence has won support within the local community. Originally there was no center, just the activities of these two dedicated brahmacaris going door to door distributing Srila Prabhupada's books and performing harinamas. Srila Prabhupada was eager for the activities of Krishna consciouness to be radiantly manifest in Bangladesh. In 1977 he told his disciples: "… you should preach with the courage of an Englishman and the heart of a Bengali mother. In the same way, you should spread the empire of Krishna consciousness. If you need money, I will give you foreign currency. Preach in these countries. You've got two nice fields of preaching, Bangladesh and Nepal."

The program for the centre's first Nrsimhadeva Caturdasi celebration began with Vedic hymns and melodious kirtan. Lord Nrsimhadeva's fire sacrifices (yajna) were led by His Grace Jay Ram Prabhu, followed by his lecture about the glories of Lord Nrsimhadeva. The glories of Nrsinghadeva are well known as the divine protector of the devotees and destroyer of all obstacles.

As dusk approached, more Vedic hymns were chanted and conchshells were blown. Lord Nrsimhadeva's maha abhishek was performed, with around 1500 devotees taking part in the auspicious occasion. After the abhishek, devotees chanted Lord Nrsimhadev's prayers, kirtan, and ecstatically danced. Finally, the devotees served prasadam to all of the participants. This event marks a significant milestone in the development of the preaching center in Mymensingh. With the recent acquisition of land in the heart of the city, plans for building a temple are underway. The dedication and hard work of the devotees in

Hare Krishna, this year Janmastami festival was celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm in Bangladesh. Thousands of devotees gathered together for a huge extravaganza. Janmastami festival is celebrated as the holy appearance day of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Sri Krishna. Srimad Bhagavatam told, Krishna is the only God and all others are his expansions. Various acharyas like Shankaracharya, Madhavacharya, Ramanujacharya, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu have accepted Lord Sri Krishna as the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

Krishna means all attractive. He attracts even atheists in his incarnation as Lord Buddha. Nowadays, common faithful persons of society are attracted hearing about him through his pure devotees. A pure devotee is always ready to render service and glorify the wonderful activities of the Lord. Krishna’s birth and activities are all transcendental and those who understand in truth about the glories of the Lord, they became free from the cycle of birth and death. To understand this principle and get the benefit one should follow the path showed by an acharya who successfully followed the teachings of Bhagavada Gita.

Srila Prabhupada spread the glories of Lord Sri Krishna all over the world. In every country people are celebrating Janmastami festival. Those people who don’t know Krishna are now celebrating his birth ceremony because Krishna is all attractive. He attracts everybody, Russian, American, European, Middle East countries and many others. All are celebrating this auspicious Janmastami festival all over the world.

In Bangladesh also, crores of people celebrated Janmastami festival this year after lockdown on Friday, 19th of August, a national holiday. Grand festivals were organized in thousands of temples all over Bangladesh to welcome Lord Krishna. There is no such personality in the history who is remembered with same joy so long. This is the glory of Lord Krishna, he is the Supreme Lord and the father of everyone.

ISKCON Netrakona celebrated Janmastami festival at Sri Sri Jagannath Ballav Temple, Netrakona, where thousands of devotees gathered from morning up to 12:00 a.m. midnight. Devotees did full fasting from grains and vegetables, some even fast from water and other eatables. This fasting is observed to engage our time in remembering Krishna by reading his glories, by listening his glories, doing Kirtan and inviting others to listen Krishna Katha. Every year hundreds of devotees make thousands of sweets and various nice items on the occasion.

Lord Krishna appeared in Mathura and after that he goes to Gokula in the house of Nanda Maharaja and Yashoda Mata. The residents of Gokula were very fortunate to associate with the lord and have his darshan daily. They exchanged loving service with the lord directly. The residence of Braja serve the Lord in spontaneous devotional service, Raganuga bhakti, without any external material motives. This spontaneous devotional service is the natural tendency of the jiva, the soul, which can be revived by following the process of Krishna consciousness given by Srila Prabhupada founder Acharya of ISKCON.

ISKCON Netrakona had celebrated Janmastami with grand arrangements, where many young and enthusiastic devotees took part. Various programs such as kirtan, abhishek, dancing, chanting, prasadam distribution, lectures and drama make the festival very jubilant. Lord Krishna took birth in night around 12am, hence everyone fast whole day and wake up to midnight for abhishek of the Lord. Engaging ourself in various Krishna conscious activities during the festival purifies the heart and Krishna showers his mercy on everyone and someday Krishna may reveals himself. Krishna is a Supreme god, we cannot understand him by our tiny brain, only by our surrender service and humble attitude he may reveals himself through a bonafied spiritual master. .
Next day, Srila Prabhupada Vyasapuja and Nanda Utsava, both festivals were observed there and thousands of devotees took prasadam in afternoon. Srila Prabhupada, a pure devotee of the Lord, a mahabhagavata, who has made thousands of devotees all around the world and is still preaching through his books.
This year other preaching centres also celebrated the festival with great devotion and endeavour.

Sri Sri Nitai Chaitanya Preaching centre celebrated big janmastami where hundreds of Devotees gathered and mahaprasadam were distributed.

Also, this year June, His Holiness Subhag Swami gurumaharaj inaugurated new temple building and Sri Sri Gaura Nitai Deities. On the day of janmastami temple was fully packed with devotees. In front of Gaura Nitai deities, devotees were chanting loudly with ecstatic dancing. Drama was presented kids and so many cultural programms were presented for the pleasure of the Lord. Next day also devotees celebrated Srila Prabhupada vyasa puja.

One year ago, by the inspiration of His Holiness Subhag Swami maharaja, some young dedicated brahmacharies opened one small preaching center in the heart of Mymensingh City. Very enthusiastically, first time they arranged the janmastami festival . From morning to mid night, whole day japa & kirtan mela. Almost five hundred devotees take part on this auspicious occasion.

Sri Govinda Mandir, Jhenaidah, little far from main town also celebrated janmastami festival. Village people were very excited and thousands of them visited the temple and took blessings of the Lord Govinda who gives pleasure to cows and peoples of braja.

Jamalpur, near Mymensing division Sri Sri Govinda Mandir also celebrate very nice janmastami festival. Day began with big street kirtan and night time around five hundred devotees participated in the abhisheka of the Lord.

On March 17, around 8 PM, 150 men tried to forcibly occupy a parcel of land owned by ISKCON Bangladesh. The property is a ten-minute walk from ISKCON’s main temple in Dhaka, the Swamibag Temple, and is adjacent to a smaller ISKCON temple on nearby Lalmohan Saha Street.

“We were using the land for storage and plan to develop it in the future,” said Jagatguru Gauranga dasa, ISKCON Co-Regional Secretary for Bangladesh. “The men showed up with three large trucks and began looting the things we keep there, to take the property for their own purposes.”

Local police were called and showed up about 30 minutes later. While the police were outnumbered by the hooligans, they calmed the situation but were not able to prevent the looting and damage that had already occurred. Two ISKCON devotees suffered minor injuries while trying to resist the attack.

The adjoining ISKCON temple itself was not harmed, although there was damage to the wall around the adjoining property. A small clay deity of goddess Sarasvati, previously worshipped in a one-day ceremony (and traditionally placed in a river afterward) was taken. No Deities currently being worshipped were harmed. Construction and other materials were looted. ISKCON remains in control of the property.

It is suspected that the man behind this attack owns an adjacent property to the parcel that was looted, and wants the property for himself.

“We are meeting with the District Commissioner of Police in the next day or two to see what can be done to assure full protection of our property and the safety of our community,” said Jagat Guru.

Source: https://iskconnews.org/forcible-land-grab-thwarted-in-bangladesh/

On Saturday, October 23rd, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) members around the world along with the wider community came together to raise awareness and to demand protection and justice from the Bangladesh government for the religious minorities that are suffering atrocities and violence including attacks on temples, homes, property, and people.

Read more: Global Kirtan Protest for Bangladesh - Recap

Points to Consider on Bangladesh Attacks by Bhaktimarga Swamihttps://iskcondesiretree.com/profiles/blogs/points-to-consider-on-bangladesh-attacks-by-bhaktimarga-swami2021-10-25T12:06:03.000Z2021-10-25T12:06:03.000ZISKCON Desire Treehttps://iskcondesiretree.com/members/iskcon_desire_tree

With the recent tragedy in Bangladesh, members of ISKCON are action-planning for events of peaceful protest. Here are some points:

1) Devotees and temple communities should offer special prayers to their Deities in the morning to please protect our devotees in Bangladesh.

2) Special events and kirtans are arranged and dedicated to the Bangladesh devotees’ well-being.

3) Some communities have already held, or are planning to hold protests and public harinama chanting sessions to draw attention to the plight of Bangladesh minorities. Signs and public comments must be carefully monitored.

4) Attacks are not representation of a general conflict between faithful Muslims and Hindus. Many Muslim leaders in Bangladesh have spoken out strongly in support of the Hindu minority. The root of these attacks are extremists.

5) Government officials and influencers are being contacted.

Additional note: this matter of attacks on Bangladesh’s indigenous people and its culture is highly offensive and will incur negative consequences overall. There should be no place for such aggression.

Source: http://thewalkingmonk.blogspot.com/2021/10/monday-october-18-2021.html

Bangladesh Global Kirtan Protesthttps://iskcondesiretree.com/profiles/blogs/bangladesh-global-kirtan-protest2021-10-24T11:40:54.000Z2021-10-24T11:40:54.000ZISKCON Desire Treehttps://iskcondesiretree.com/members/iskcon_desire_tree

ISKCON Appeals for Protection of Minorities in Bangladesh

Attacks on Hindu Temples and Communities Must Be Stopped

October 17, 2021

Anuttama Dasa, Minister of Communications

The worldwide International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) community is shocked and saddened by the recent series of violent events directed against the Hindu minority in Bangladesh, including our own ISKCON temples and members.

Between October 13 and 15, multiple temples, homes, shops, and individuals were attacked across several districts of the country. Several innocent members of the Hindu minority were killed for no reason other than their religious affiliation. Temples and private properties were burned, vandalized, and destroyed.

With heavy hearts, we pray for the souls of two of our own Vaishnava devotees, Pranta Chandra das, and Jatan Chandra Saha, who were murdered during these attacks. We also pray for ISKCON member Nimai Chandra das, who remains hospitalized in a critical condition.

ISKCON is grateful for the recent statements of support for the Hindu community from the Honorable Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

ISKCON calls upon the Bangladesh government to take swift action to bring an end to the violence against minorities that has undermined the peace and well-being of Bangladeshi society and to take tangible steps to ensure the long-term safety and well-being of all Bangladeshi citizens. That includes to:

Report on Bangladesh Attacks

Jagatguru Gauranga das and Naru Gopal das

October 17, 2021

On 13th October 2021, radical extremists began strategic, coordinated attacks on Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. The attacks continued until October 15th, 2021, with innumerable homes, shops, puja pandals, and temples being looted, burned, and destroyed. There are currently 6 to 10 fatalities reported in various media outlets, while many more people have sustained injuries or been hospitalized.

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that our ISKCON Sri Sri Radha Krishna, Gaura Nityananda Jew Temple in Choumoni was part of these attacks and that two devotees, Pranta Chandra das (whose dead body was found in a pond the next day) and Jatan Chandra Saha, were murdered during these attacks. Another devotee, Nimai Chandra das, remains hospitalized in a critical condition. All residential devotees were physically attacked and have sustained injuries.

The destruction began in Nanuyar Dighi, in the district of Cumilla, after false rumors of Hindus disrespecting the Holy Qur'an were used to instigate and recruit extremists, and continued to spread throughout 15 districts, namely: Comilla, Chandpur, Lakhipur, Gajipur, Kurigram, Moulabi Bazaar, Babijang, Sheylet, Bhalo, Noakhali, Chattagram, Coxs-Bazar, Chapainbabgang, Muncigang, and Fheni.

This is not the first time in Bangladesh where false rumours were spread and used to brutally attack or murder Hindu minorities.

On Thursday, 14th October 2021, the Honourable Prime Minister declared that the culprits would receive exemplary punishment. However, the Government did not visible steps to stop further destruction. The ISKCON Choumoni temple devotees had also pleaded with local police to provide protection, but these requests were ignored.

Seizing this gross neglect of duty from the authorities, approximately 500 Muslim radical extremists continued their attacks the following day.

The attack on our ISKCON Choumoni temple took place on 15th October 2021 around 3 PM in broad daylight. During this ruthless attack, which was conducted in two phases, the Ratha of Lord Jagannath, deities of Srila Prabhupada, spiritual books, vehicles, and other temple property/ paraphernalia were burned, destroyed, and looted.

On the same day, the Kali Mandir, Rama Thakur Mandir, Lokanath Mandir, GM Sen Hall of Chattagram, along with many other houses, shops, and institutions of Hindu minorities were also destroyed.

The culprits behind these attacks have shamelessly and openly declared their actions on social media, repeatedly carrying out such atrocities again and again. Therefore, the Government should take immediate steps to set exemplary, severe punishment and not permit Muslim radical extremists to perform such atrocities, which bring shame upon the respected society of Bangladesh in the eyes of the world.

We offer our sincere prayers and condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives and livelihoods in such violent and painful circumstances.

Source: https://iskconnews.org/iskcon-official-report-on-bangladesh-attacks,8044/

Message of the GBC Executive Committee about Bangladeshhttps://iskcondesiretree.com/profiles/blogs/message-of-the-gbc-executive-committee-about-bangladesh2021-10-20T10:50:44.000Z2021-10-20T10:50:44.000ZISKCON Desire Treehttps://iskcondesiretree.com/members/iskcon_desire_tree

Dear Devotees,

Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Many of you are aware of the atrocious attack against our temple and many Hindu temples in Bangladesh that occurred between October 13 and 15.

We offer heartfelt prayers that Lord Nrsimhadeva, the protector of the devotees, may offer his divine protection to the Vaisnava community in Bangladesh, and particularly offer his mercy to the two devotees who were brutally murdered in these attacks, Pranta Chandra das and Jatan Chandra Saha. We also pray for the Lord’s loving grace upon Nimai Chandra Das, who remains hospitalized in critical condition.

It is our request to the worldwide community of devotees that we all come together in prayer for the protection of our fellow devotees in Bangladesh. May the all-merciful Lord Nrsimhadeva protect them and the temples where they so lovingly offer their worship to the Lord.

The leaders of ISKCON Bangladesh are working closely with the International Communications ministry to organize a response to this attack, calling both for the perpetrators to be sought out and punished for their unspeakable crimes and for increased protection of our devotees and all others at risk in Bangladesh.

ISKCON representatives are uniting with other minority communities, including Christians, Buddhists, and other Hindus, to seek protection for all those who may be in danger. They are also in contact with Muslim leaders who have spoken out against these vicious acts.

We acknowledge with gratitude that the Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has strongly admonished these vicious attacks and request that all ISKCON devotees come together in a united voice to do the same.

The ISKCON Communications Ministry has organized a number of opportunities for devotees worldwide to speak out against this travesty, including a request for all temples and communities to organize large-scale kirtan events on October 23rd. You can find guidelines for these events below.

Let us all come together in this hour of need when our fellow devotees have been deprived of their safety, their temple, and even their very lives, and pray with united hearts that they may find the supreme shelter of Lord Nrsimhadeva’s mercy and protection.

Thank you very much.

Guidelines for Large-Scale Kirtan Events in Support of ISKCON and other Minorities in Bangladesh

Date: Saturday, October 23

Time: As best for your local community

Venue: A public and visible place, or an ISKCON community.

Organizing: Events should be well organized, and not disruptive of others.
Signage should be carried. The media can be invited.

Signage: Recommended Messages/Signage to be carried at events:

Protect Bangladesh Hindus

Justice for Bangladesh Minorities

Protect our Temples in Bangladesh

God Loves Minorities Too

Stop Violence Against Hindus

Media: It is helpful to invite the media. Ideally, you have a trained ISKCON Communications devotee to help. A media release template will follow in a day or two for your use.

Messages: We seek two things:

1. Justice—Those responsible for the recent violence must be held accountable and punished per Bangladesh law.
2. Protection—We call on the Bangladesh government to ensure the safety of all religious minorities in Bangladesh

Warning: No signage or spoken messages should criticize Muslims, or Islam, or the Bangladesh government. This is the explicit request of the Bangladesh leaders and ISKCON Communications. No one incapable of following
this mandate should communicate in any fashion on behalf of ISKCON.

Many Muslims, as well as the Bangladesh government, have spoken out in support of ISKCON and other minorities. We are asking for concrete steps to be taken to ensure our safety.

Source: http://www.dandavats.com/?p=96342

Internal guidelines for ISKCON Communities for proposed responses to the crisishttps://iskcondesiretree.com/profiles/blogs/internal-guidelines-for-iskcon-communities-for-proposed-responses2021-10-18T11:45:50.000Z2021-10-18T11:45:50.000ZISKCON Desire Treehttps://iskcondesiretree.com/members/iskcon_desire_tree

The pandemic is heavily affecting ISKCON devotee communities around the world as there is lack of resources and access to medical equipment and facilities especially for those in rural devotee communities such as Mayapur and Bangladesh. Over 7000 devotee families in Mayapur and Bangladesh are struggling to feed and take care of their families because of the situation. It is heart-wrenching to see these devotees suffering, leaving their bodies, having no access to any basic items.

Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur writes, “One should be merciful and not cause anxiety to any living entity. The heart should always be filled with compassion for others. Exhibiting mercy to all living entities is one of the limbs of devotional service.”

The GBC is holding a COVID Relief Event to raise awareness and unify devotees and temples as a demonstration of cooperation and love from Srila Prabhupada and our devotees in this affected region. This special event will be taking place on Saturday, June 5th from 5-8 pm EST. The program will be jam packed and involves many speakers including HH Radhanath Swami, HH Jayapataka Swami, HH Bhakti Purushottam Swami and many more. The event and will also feature kirtaniyas including Gaura Vani Das, and Amala Kirtan Das and more. In addition, a special Nrsimha Yagna will be performed live from New Vrindaban, West Virginia.

To support and participate in the event, the broadcast will be live on Kirtan T.O.’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/kirtantoronto) and the MayapurTV YouTube channel.

Please spread the word and participate!

Source: http://www.dandavats.com/?p=95675

Urgent Appeal for Mayapur and Bangladesh Covid Reliefhttps://iskcondesiretree.com/profiles/blogs/urgent-appeal-for-mayapur-and-bangladesh-covid-relief2021-05-15T13:04:45.000Z2021-05-15T13:04:45.000ZISKCON Desire Treehttps://iskcondesiretree.com/members/iskcon_desire_tree

May 14, 2021

Dear Devotees,

Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

The Covid crisis continues to affect India and Bangladesh and the ISKCON communities there in a terrible way. We have lost many members of our extended ISKCON family, and people in the surrounding regions of our communities are struggling with the Covid disease and its impact on food supplies, financial security, and more.

ISKCON is responding in two primary ways.

First, devotees of ISKCON’s international communities are contributing much needed funds to relieve the suffering in the Sridham Mayapur region, our ISKCON global headquarters and the sacred birthplace of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu; and in Bangladesh, the birthplace of many Gaudiya Vaishnava saints.

Second, devotees and temples within India have launched an effort to raise funds to help their “sister” temples and communities in other parts of India.

Today, on this auspicious day of Aksaya Trtitiya, we are writing to beg your support on behalf of the international effort to help send relief to Mayapur and Bangladesh. The financial aid for these areas will focus on urgently necessary medical equipment and supplies, setting up a covid ward for the sick, and providing for wide scale distribution of prasada.

We request that all ISKCON leaders, temple communities, and individual devotees outside of India please contribute now to help the residents of these sacred places.

Please view the very moving and informative videos below featuring HH Radhanath Swami, HH Jayapataka Swami, HH Gopal Krishna Goswami and Braja Vilasa prabhu. Also, there is a link to a beautiful video appeal produced by HH Bhaktivaibhava Swami.

These videos provide more details regarding the urgent need and our goal of $800,000 for this relief effort. Please generously donate what you can, and help share the word with your friends throughout the devotee community.

Dear Devotees and Friends of ISKCON,

Hare Krishna. Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Today our society faces an urgent crisis. As most of you know, the Covid-19 pandemic is now sweeping India and our devotee communities and their neighbors have not escaped the scourge. Lack of medical supplies, medical care, oxygen, and even basic food are causing great suffering. The financial collapse in some sectors is intensifying the crisis.

The ISKCON Governing Body Commission held an emergency meeting on Friday, April 30, to assess what ISKCON can do to help. We know there are many governments and agencies responding to the crisis, but we need to do our part, especially to help our fellow Vaishnavas and those they serve.

First and foremost, we need your prayers for all those struck by this crisis. But, also practical steps must be taken. In dialogue with the ISKCON leaders in the region, the GBC determined that the greatest need at this time is for Mayapur and Bangladesh. Therefore, the GBC has launched the “ISKCON Mayapur/Bangladesh Covid Relief Appeal,” to provide medical supplies, food/prasada and other support.

We urgently need to raise $ 800,000 for Mayapur and Bangladesh. And we ask for your help.

Attached below you will find additional details of the crisis, an outline of the assistance plan, and where to send your donation. We urge you to donate today. This is an emergency and time is of the essence. Please give generously. And, please share this message with your networks of devotees and friends.

We thank you in advance for your support of our fellow Vaishnavas, and for assisting their ongoing relief efforts in Mayapur and Bangladesh.

On behalf of the ISKCON Governing Body Commission,

The ISKCON Harinam Sankirtan Ministry was appointed this year by the GBC. The minister is Lokanath Swami. In one of its first initiatives, the Ministry began Kirtan Fest Global, a global brand to promote Kirtan Festivals throughout the world. What better place to start than Mother India?

Kirtan Fest Global organized the Kirtan Fest India Online for ISKCON India from 10th May - 17th May, 2020 from 9 am-9 pm, which was live streamed on Facebook. The event was so popular that the organizers extended from 7 days to 8 days for a total of 96 hours of Kirtan Fest India Online.

The purposes of the event were:

a) To provide an opportunity to ISKCON India's devotees to stay connected with each other even under this lockdown period through participating in non-stop 12 hour kirtans everyday.

b) To foster their connection and service to the holy names of the Lord.

c) To express our gratitude and appreciation to tens of thousands of doctors, nurses, police, government officers and all others who unselfishly put aside their own safety to protect those in need.

d) To pray for the welfare of all living entities during this Corona pandemic crisis in India and other countries by satisfying Krishna through Harinam Sankirtan.

e) To promote the Yuga Dharma: Congregational Chanting of Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare / Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.

This event was inspired by the wonderful success of the Festival of the Holy Name organised by the devotees in the Alachua Community. Pancharatna Das (ACBSP), in conjunction with ISKCON Communications India, offered the service to the ISKCON Harinam Sankirtan Ministry.

An online group on Facebook was created by the name Kirtan Fest India Online. https://bit.ly/KirtanFestIndiaOnline

Traditionally, someone sits on one side of the scale and on the other side rice with shell, coconut, banana, different fruits will be stacked, until it is equal to the weight of the person.
