It is also found in Garuda Purana, very interesting, that Lord Shiva was approached by all the Devas, that there was a demon called Andhaka, that they had to destroy him.

So then he took from all the demigods, he took energy, and he made a whole army of celestial energies, with destructive power called...they were called the Matri Danas, the mothers!

But actually they were destructive. Instead of going after the demon, they started to go after the ordinary citizens; They were devouring everything, planets, starts, people, destroying the skies.

So then Lord Shiva, he didn't know what to do!? So he started to pray to Lord Nrsingadev. I didn't bring the mantras, beautiful mantra..Lord Shiva praying to Nrsingadev. Om Namo Jagannathaya!..Lord of the Universe..Nrsingaya! So many nice verses that, "You're..thousands of, brilliant-like thousands of Suns", and maybe about eight-ten verses, very beautiful..Shiva's prayers to Nrsingadev in the Garuda Purana.

Then Nrsingadev appeared and Shiva requested Him.."I created these destructive energies. It's not right that I destroy them, if You can somehow neutralize them I'll be very grateful."

So from the Nrsingadev's mouth, from His tongue manifested thousands of spiritual energies, and then each one of them to one of these destructive energies and neutralized them!

Nrsimha Nectar 03: Different Kalpa 1

In the Padma Purana it mentions that another kalpa, Hiranyakashipu asked, "I can't be killed by a man, by animal, by deva, not by anything dead or alive", but he did'nt mention "in our out". Like in this lila it is not 'inside or outside', but in that lila he didn't mention that. So that's...didn't have to be killed in the door-way. So like that some little differences are there in each of the pastimes.

So Hiranyakashipu told Prahalad that, "I'm giving you till 6'oclock, until sundown!" Like in America in the cowboy movies they say, "You got till sundown!." So I'll give you till sundown and if by that time your Lord doesn't come, then you are finished!"

So it is said that there were elaborate arrangements for worshiping Hiranyakashipu. That they built a big air-conditioned facility which was like over a 100km long and 50km wide, very high, so even airplanes could fly inside it.

When one went inside it's air condition, they didn't feel heat or cold. Also, without cool, always pleasant, then a special buffet if you're hungry...you can go, eat what ever you want. But even then if you're inside you don't feel very hungry but still if you wanted, you could enjoy.

Then there was a big place.. a big high like altar, with a big throne on it. Hiranyakashipu would sit, and all hundreds and millions of people would be in there and singing Hiranyakashipu kirtan! They didn't say what was the kirtan you know.."We love you, Hiranyakashipu!" (laughter). "You give us sense gratification, you're our great guide." Something like that...I don't know. Speculating.

So something they had...big gatherings, fountains and beautiful.. So Hiranyakashipu would get worshiped, not as a representative of Visnu but as the supreme himself. But then Prahalad still wouldn't accept him. So for his mutiny, his impudence, he told him, "You have until sunset, then I'll kill you!"

Nrsimha Nectar 01: Glorious Prahalad!

In the Padma Purana, it mentions that Prahalad, Hiranyakashipu, Nrsingadev, they appear many times. It's not only this one time. At least 3 different...2 different incarnations in other days of Brahma are described in the Padma Purana.

One of those times he (Hiranyakashipu) worshiped Shiva and got the blessing. Another time he worshiped Brahma again. When he was worshiping Shiva and he wanted Prahalad to admit that he was supreme, then he said that, "Well, ok if you don't want to admit I'm supreme at least admit that Shiva is supreme..hes above Vishnu." Prahalad didn't accept that either.

Prahalad was very fixed up Vaisnava. He knew very clearly who the Supreme was. He got prenatal instruction. In the womb of his mother Kayadu he was instructed by Narada muni.

Narada is very merciful. So he saved Prahalad from the Devas and took her to his ashram, when she was carrying Prahalad, and then instructed her. So later she forgot a lot of the things but Prahalad remembered everything. So before he was born, he was already trained up.

The teachers of Prahalad were amazed where did he get all this information from? And they weren't teaching all this Visnu-tattva. So they were surprised!

Nrsimha Nectar 04: Different Kalpa 2

So then Nrsingadev, he appeared outside of this big facility, and he was walking through the town..people..all the demons...people living in Hiranyakashipu's city, they saw Him and got frightened and ran. And He entered into the stadium..whatever you call it, I don't know...air conditioned facility! And He was flying in the back, in a gigantic form.

And Hiranyakashipu says, "What is this?", calls his air-force commander, "Tell this, whatever He is, we don't allow any beasts into our assembly here. He should immediately go out, otherwise if He doesn't go, kill Him!"

So they went there to tell Nrsingadev to leave! He dint leave. So they went in to attack Him. They say His mane was spread out. If any airplane hit the mane, any missile, it would pulverize into ashes. Just fall down as ashes on the people below. Just like sometimes in the airport you see these, some kind of special lights, bugs fly into and "cheekh"..they get burnt. So so many of these...the whole air-force was destroyed.

Then Hiranyakashipu, he had special missiles. So he told them to release the missile. All kinds of special missiles to immediately destroy anything. So, one after another he was throwing missiles at Nrsingadev. Some would hit His hair and burn. Some Nrsingadev would catch..look at..throw it back..and explode. But nothing was harming Nrsingadev. Finally when all the weapons, all the military, all the air-force, everything was destroyed, then, Hiranyakashipu himself went to attack Nrsingadev.

Nrsimha Nectar 05: Different Kalpa 3

The fight (between Nringadev and Hiranyakashipu) was fairly similar, catching...releasing...flying in the air, fighting with each other. When it was the right time, then Nrsingadev grabbed Hiranyakashipu like a big bug. But this time he sat on his throne, took him and bifurcated him into two...took out the intestine and everything.

And in that lila, it is said that Lakshmidevi could approach (Nringadev). In the Bhagavatam lila He was too angry, even She couldn't approach. But in this one She could approach. Everyone has little differences. She sat on Nringadev's lap. The Devas wanted to approach and offer prayers, but it was so intensely effulgent from Nrsingadev, they told...communicated..whispered to Lakshmi that, "Effulgence cooling please!".

So the Lord has different kinds of jyoti, intense hot jyoti and also cooling jyoti, like moon rays. So then She whispered something in His ear and, He switched the jyoti to 'cooling'...'cooling mode'. Then everyone came and offered prayers and Prahalad came and offered. Like that..very interesting that, not only one time Nringadev comes.

Nrsimha Nectar 02: Blue Lotuses!

One time, Padma Purana says how when Bhakta Prahalad was preaching about Visnu bhakti and everything then, Hiranyakashipu got very angry and sent his soldiers to kill him. So first they tried...they struck him with a sword. But as soon as the weapon would hit Prahalad, it turned into a blue lotus, Neel Utpal. Blue lotus.

Another soldier came up with a spear and went to stab Prahalad in the heart, "kill him!" But as soon as it touched Prahalad, it turned into a blue lotus. Someone came up with his arrow, "Waargh"..more blue lotuses!

Whatever they would attack him with simply became blue lotuses. So he was covered by a big pile of blue lotuses. There were not able to harm him. Rather they were doing Pushpanjali!

There are many different Nrsinga temples, in, especially in south India. Ofcourse, here we have our Nrsingapalli, where the Lord Nrsinga was flying over Navadweep then he landed in Nrsingapalli, and he wasn't approachable after killing Hiranyakashipu, but here he became very approcahable.

So all the devas built cottages around Nrsingadev's, build Him a cottage and they were serving Him, giving Him bogha and faning and doing all kinds of personal services. So here in Navadweep dham, the Lord is accessable.

And ofcourse when Murari Gupta was chanting the Vishnu Sahasranam, when he got to Nrsingadev, Lord Caitanya got in the mood of Lord Nrsingadev, ran out with a stick, "Where are the demons?!! Where are the demons, I'll kill them all!!

People were seeing the huge form of Lord Caitanya with a stick, crying He was going to kill demons and then they all started running. Then Lord Caitanya when He saw them running, he came back to normal consciousness, then He told Murari Gupta that, "I scared all those people!". He (Murari gupta) said, "No, just by seeing You in that mood they were all liberated.

So, Lord Caitanya manifested in Mayapur, in this mood of 'looking for the demons', and somehow our Nrsingadev, Sthanu Nrsinga, when He comes out from the column and He is looking for the demons!

Everything Belongs to KRISHNA!

GURUVAKYA

"The actual consciousness that one needs to achieve is nirmama and nishkinchana , to have nothing. Having nothing can be achieved by a grihastha if he accepts everything as Krishna's.

Bhaktivinod Thakura prayed,''Manasa deho geho, jo kichu mora, arpilo tua pade Nanda Kishore", "My mind, my body, my household, whatever normally one would consider their's, whatever it may be, I am simply offering at your Lotus Feet, Nanda Kishore. Everything is Yours."

If someone takes up their service in that attitude, then grihastha life will not be a big impediment. But if one is very attached to his family life, and thinks, "This is all mine, and I will give a little bit to Krishna," then it is difficult for him to get a taste of the nectar of Krishna consciousness."

Everything is Krishna's and He has given me this service and I should do something to serve Him. Everything is His," - if they have this proper attitude, it will not be an impediment. It is very important to develop this proper attitude. So, in the varnashrama system one should first be trained to be a brahmachari, learn vairagya vidya, and apply these things practically when he enters grihastha life."

GAURANGA Trademark!

GAURANGA Trademark!

"In the modern world, trademarks are very common. And they are protected. The trademark for marketing the holy name is the causeless mercy of Caitanya Mahaprabhu, Lord Gauranga. In this Age of Kali, it is not possible to achieve the pure holy name without chanting the names of the Pancha-Tattva prior to chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra.

Whoever wants to market the holy name must be a sincere follower of the Lord and distribute the name under Gauranga's brand name, or process, of chanting. Many people chant Hare Krishna maha-mantra, but true followers of Lord Caitanya are especially empowered by His mercy."

Bell Is Mightier Than The Bomb!

Bell Is Mightier Than The Bomb!

"One time Prabhupada was saying that the 'BELL' of the priest in the temple, when he performs the arati ceremony ringing the bell, that bell is more powerful than the nuclear weapon...the atomic bomb, because the bomb will blow up people's bodies and destroy vegetation and will make a hole in the ground and everything. But the bomb doesn't change spiritually, the situation that's happening with any of those souls, with any of those spiritual beings! Again they still have to take birth.

But someone hearing of the 'BELL' that's being offered to Krishna, then what to speak of the kirtan (we just performed), that's destroying so much karma and that can actually purify ones consciousness, as we're said to have a transcendental consciousness which is capable of remembering Krishna!"

Spiritual Purchasing Power!

SPIRITUAL PURCHASING POWER

"Every human in the world is a potential customer (for taking up Krishna Consciousness). There are no restrictions due to caste, color, creed, gender or age. Everyone is a potential customer. Whoever has the proper 'money' can buy the goods.

The currency is described as being the pure desire to serve the Lord. Any mixture with other motives create a counterfeit situation. Counterfeit money means that when the customer chants the holy name of Krishna, he will not be able to experience the same transcendental bliss, or the same realization, as does the pure devotees, who has no mundane motive for chanting.

To enter deep into the real ecstasy of Krishna consciousness, one should be sure that his motives are pure, thus avoiding counterfit money, which only resembles money but has no actual purchasing power!."

Get Spiritually RICH!

Get Spiritually RICH!

"It is not required to live as a monk in the temple. Everyone receives benefit according to the faith and devotion he gives, whether big or small. Whatever devotion one has, he invests and gets profit. Thus one's capital accrues. Then he reinvests the enhanced capital. In this way one will very soon be Spiritually Rich.

To reside within a temple, one should be on the level of bhajana-kriya or anartha-nivrtti. But those living at home can be on any level, higher or lower. And even if one has only a small degree of faith, still that has value and can be reinvested. Therefore the preachers should encourage people to bestow their faith in Krishna."

The Supreme Bargain!

The Supreme Bargain!

"In America, some companies offer rebate coupons. This means that after a person has purchased the particular product, he is mailed a cheque of, say, twenty percent of what he had paid, or sent some other offer. But whatever price one pays in the market of the holy name, he receives a rebate of many, many times that amount.

Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura is describing the Supreme Bargain. In the material world we give our love and faith to people, but they can hardly reciprocate a fraction of what is given. Sometimes our loved ones might even cause us harm. Here Bhaktivinoda Thakura explains that if we give our faith to Krishna, then not only will we be reimbursed the equavalent, but we will actually get back many times that amount. So why we hesitate?"

The Transcendental Marketplace!

The Transcendental Marketplace!

"The mercy of Lord Caitanya and Lord Nithyananda decends through Their devotees. Devotees who have received krsna-prema by the mercy of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu are able to distribute this love of Godhead. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura illustrates this process by using the analogy: 'the transcendental marketplace of the Lord.

In compliance with Lord Caitanya's order, everyone must accept Krishna consciousness and also share it with others. According to individual capacity, everyone should become a vehicle for spreading the hold name of Krishna. It is not a stereotyped process. Anyone can do it under the guidance of a bona fide spiritual master, who functions as the representative of Lord Nithyananda, the original spiritual master."

Please Promote Krishna Consciousness!

Please Promote Krishna Consciousness!

"What we're trying to do is, encourage everyone to support the temples and at the same time to also be active in promoting Krishna Consciousness in one's own right.

Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's order was in Chaitanya Caritamrita was everyone should practice Krishna Consciousness and give it to everyone. Take up Krishna Consciousness and distribute it to everyone we meet. yare dekho tare kaho Krishna updesh. Whoever you meet, tell them about Krishna.

In this way, the way that Krishna consciousness can spread is exponential and the movement can expand so rapidly. Every friend can make another friend a devotee. A householder can make another family a devotee. So in this way, Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's movement, in a very short period flooded West Bengal and East Bengal also."

Power of 'Nama Hatta' Preaching!

Power of 'Nama Hatta' Preaching!

"In this modern age, it is most practical to apply the Nama Hatta form of preaching - cultivating people through small groups formed of the congregation. Nama Hatta groups can begin anywhere, without restrictions, whereas in a temple there are so many restrictions, not only spiritual but also material, in the sense that so many expenses must be met.

The Nama Hatta system start first with a small group, and then later, when the congregation grows, it is quite natural to establish a temple. In this way things can develop naturally. By that process, many of Bhaktivinod Thukura's Nama Hattas later developed into temples. Although the social situation has since changed - for instance, now people drive in cars whereas in those days they used horse buggies - the aspect of people working outside and practicing Krishna Consciousness from their home has not changed.

Today we have different kinds of Nama Hatta programs, such as Counsellor Groups, Bhakti-Vrksas, and various other groups, all of which are included in the broad category of the Nama Hatta."

Our Eternal Father: A Child??

GURUVAKYA

"Although God has no parents as He is eternal and is the father of everyone, yet He can agree to become someone's child - have a little baby form and a devotee to serve Him as a parent. As a parent, the parents think that they are bigger than the child.

The parents always want to protect the child. Even though Krishna is the Supreme protector of everyone. His parents always think, "I have to protect Krishna. If I don't protect Krishna, some danger will befall Krishna."

So the parents actually become greater than God in that relationship - Krishna comes with the shoes of His father on His head and serves His parents. He is Supremely independent. He likes that sometimes His devotee is in a superior position."

Get Cared for...Feel Cared for!

Get Cared for...Feel Cared for!

"One time Prabhupada was sitting with his hand on his head and he was saying, "You don't know what it is like to run a world-wide spiritual movement. You don't know." The inference, with the way that he was holding his head, was that it was a big headache.

Prabhupada was so concerned that we all stay together, that we all work together, that we all cooperate to spread the Krsna conscious movement. We have many, many devotees now and it's important that the devotees get cared for, and feel cared for.

So part of the function to care for the devotees, is through the diksa guru. He is the manifestation of the Madana Mohana vigraha, the sambanda vigraha. There's also the help of the many different instructing spiritual masters, or siksa gurus, who is a representative of Govindaji, the abidheya vigraha. The goal of life is Radha-Gopinatha."
