    Hare Krsna,

    PAMHO.

Yes, it is advisable to chant Gauranga's name if you are unable to chant the mahamantra. Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is Krsna in devotee form. He gave nama sankirtana as the yuga dharma and told us to chant the hare krsna maha mantra. But due to our past karma and the influence of kaliyuga, sometimes we find it difficult to chant the mahamantra. Then, we can pray for the mercy of Lord Nityananda by chanting the name gauranga, or alternatively, we can chant the panch tatva mantra on the beads for mercy and energy to chant the maha mantra.

Its like this - the story of Valmiki goes that when he was a dacoit and was advised to chant the name of rama, he was so fallen that he said he cannot take the name rama. Then he was told to chant mara, mara... this way he ended up chanting the name of Rama involuntarily and got purified and became the saint Valmiki we have heard of.

The idea is to chant the maha mantra only, because this is prescribed for this age. But if you are unable to chant, then its better to chant the name gauranga. That way, you will get the mercy of Nityananda prabhu and Mahaprabhu both.

I hope i have been able to answer your question.

    Haribol,

    Your servant,

    Rashmi
