No he should not. But he gives anyway. If we pray we get more. Choice is yours, depending on how much you want

How does guru know we are looking for mercy, unless we ask for it? Even mother doesnt give milk unless child cries.
Guru is merciful, thats why he will give mercy even though we dont deserve it. Most of the times, our asking for mercy is half hearted, not sincere enough. Guru still gives mercy, with full sincerity and heart, because he knows how much we need it.
