truthfullness in Kaliyuga

Among the four legs of Dharma, in kaliyuga only Truthfulness remains according to shastra.

But if we see in this age, no body is truthfull. Each people are cheating for some selfish individual benefits.

How can I justify that truthfulness is the only religious pillar remained in this Kaliyuga?

  • Sometime back while travelling in Bengaluru, I gave Rs. 100 to the ticket conductor for a pass, he kept Rs. 100 and started looking here and there and then claimed I did not give him any money. After some verbal argument, he gave me the pass and change. There are so many adulterants in cheap material like red chilli as well - even dangerous ones . This shows even the last leg of dharma is deteriorating fast.

However, there is still truthfulness even in this day and age. For example, if you deposit money in bank , you can withdraw your money. The cashier normally does not keep it. Another example is when you handover money to a shopkeeper, he hands you over goods.

Even up to this date I have seen that if someone owes me money they return it, so truthfulness is still a virtue  but it is fast deteriorating value with the progress of kaliyuga.

    Hare KRsna PRabhuji,

    PAMHO.

Truthfulness is still considered a virtue in Kaliyuga. Even a dishonest person wants a truthful person as an employee.

While there is an element of deceit in practically everyone in the world today, people are largely truthful. Otherwise the world will not run. There is some element of truth in maximum people in the world even today.

Kali started some few thousands of years back.

Only 5,117 years ( approx.) are passed out of 432,000 years of current Kali Yuga.

During the start days truthfulness was maximum in potency. Many were truthful. As during the start of Kaliyuga there was a saintly King Maharaja Parikshit. Under his rule everything was going on smoothly. Law and order was maintained and people were truthful.

as days pass.. it is diminishing

SB 12.2.1 — Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: Then, O King, religion, truthfulness, cleanliness, tolerance, mercy, duration of life, physical strength and memory will all diminish day by day because of the powerful influence of the Age of Kali.

Ghor Kaliyug is yet to come when this 70% remaining truthfulness will also be lost.

    Hare Krishna.

During the present age, Kali-yuga, practically all desirable qualities will gradually diminish, as described in this verse. For example, dharma, whic…
